Power Automate for desktop – Mozilla Firefox web extension installation update

At this time, the Microsoft Power Automate web extension for Mozilla Firefox browser is not available in the ‘Firefox Browser Add-ons’ store. Therefore, the download and installation of the specific web extension is not currently available. Please note that Microsoft Power Automate web extension for Mozilla Firefox browser is functional if it is already installed and web automation is fully supported in Mozilla Firefox browser.

We are working on resolving the issue as soon as possible.

We will keep you posted with the latest updates.

Is there any update or timeline on this issue? Thank you!

Hi,

I've just stumbled accross this notice.  I have just updated ro the H2 version of Windows 11 and following that the Power automate extension does not run properly in Firefox.  It cannot connect to teh browser and suggests I uninstall and re-install the extension.  BUT without the extension being available I cannot do this.

The situation therefore is becoming troublesome for those in the community who already have the extension installed and rely on it daily.

I have resorted to manually undertaking the script action as it may take some time to recreate the scripts in Chrome or Edge.

Can you please provide an update on when the extension will become available again for Firefox.

Thanks

Mike

@NikosMoutzou ... further to my last informing that Firefox PA extension needs releading after windows 11 latest release upgrade, is there perhaps a way of saving the currently loaded extension locally, removing it and then reloading it from the local saved copy?

I would much appreciate any update or workaround you could give for this issue. Thank you.

You can use this offline extension, and install from file. You must decompress first

Screenshot_1.png

Thank you @Kitaro I will look into your solution and the attached file.  I am surprised that Microsoft themselves cannot supply the file OR resolve the issue OR provide explanation of the issue they have in doing so.

I have been doing the scripts manually now for a while.

Initially, @NikosMoutzou provided all details for extension install (including the link for extension), here, in this post. Even Microsoft posted in one of their blogs, all details, including Pad extension.. But something happened in the meantime and Microsoft blog vanished and @NikosMoutzou removed all traces of Firefox extension from this post. Why ... is not important now. Important is that Microsoft to solve this problem.

Hello - have there been any advancements on this?

Multiple of our critical flows are broken because of this. Of course, MS doesn't provide any information on the issue or timetable about the fix. Downgrading Firefox or PAD doesn't help. Support doesn't answer either so there's no way to actually determine if we should start moving the flows to Edge or not (not a trivial thing to do)

Nice christmas present we have here.

Two day ago, for a short period of time, the extension could be downloaded. It was there, in Firefox extensions. I installed it, it works fine. I don't understand why he disappeared again.

The problem now is that you can no longer downgrade PAD and the new version of PAD 2.27 does not communicate with the older extensions. It is worse than the previous time.

@NikosMoutzoucan you provide us with the new extension. I know you have it 🙂

Back in November I followed advice offered on this thread to install the extension manually from file.  I exported the one installed and re-installed it.  I was relieved to find that the scripts worked again!

HOWEVER, last week on Thursday they stopped working again.  Same issue! I removed and re-installed the extension umpteen times, tried writing alternatives to launch the browser to a new instance rather than connect to a running instance. No luck I'm afraid.

Today the extension has disappeared from the Firefox extensions online.  I feel sure that it was there last Thursday/Friday(?).

So, my status is that, yet again the scripts have stopped working due to the scripts being unable to attach to the web page in the Firefox browser.

I haven't been able to get the scripts to work with MS EDGE either.  Same issue arises.

Yeah, tired to re-install the previous extension file as well but that didn't help. Nor did downgrading PAD/Firefox. So now it seems that we're stuck until MS decides to upload the extension again.

Okay, I thought I was going crazy! I saw it on there just last week and come Monday morning it's gone.

I'm trying to get an understanding of this and if there is a solution with any browser.

From what I am reading, the Power automate DESKTOP (PAD) which is now version 2.27.00186.22340 (on my desktop at least) does not work with web extensions older than 2.27.  Is that right?  Something to do with Manifest V2 going out of scope.

Our problem is that there isn't a Firefox web extension that is 2.27.xxx and once you have updated PAD to 2.27 PowerAutomate can no longer work with Firefox.  AND you cannot go back to PAD 2.26 😫 ??

SO Firefox can no longer be used until a new Firefox Web Extension at 2.27 becomes available.

However.... I tried using PAD version 2.27.00186.22340 with EDGE with web extension version 2.27.0.2 and this doesn't work either 😲  It, too, cannot connect to the browser to take control of the session.

SO... just Microsoft just rolling out a Firefox extension labelled at V2.27 (or above) like the one they have rolled out for Edge won't guarantee it will start working again!

Seems all very flakey... is there an alternative to PAD which we can use in these extended PAD outage periods until Microsoft manage to stabilise the product?

For some members on the forum, this solution from andersjensenorg has worked...so can give it a try.

Thanks @Kitaro.... as a matter of interest where do you get these new extension files for Firefox from?
