Ask user for input

There should be a way to send an email asking somebody to input something. This input could be used as dynamic content. It would be nice to allow a user to change a variable. For example, asking a user what time something should be or giving the option to change a time. It would also be nice if there was a comment box for email with options. Personally, that would solve my issues, but I feel like a general "Ask user for input" could be more valuable for its wide variety of uses.

The recommended way to do this is to use approval flows. These can receive input from users and then proceed based on the selected input.

I agree that this will be definitely helpful. Or a good workaround would be nice as well.

Like having its own microsoft flow button type of user inputs.

I’m struggling for the exact same thing. This should definitely be an option.

This can be the case when a supervisor want to delegate its task.
When I send the option Delegate, Supervisor should have the option to reply with to whom it will delegate

Agreed would be great if we could have something customisable outside an approval email tempalte.

We have business example for wanting to collect users input to update Planner task after its been created (using Flow)

regarding use of an approval flow, I'm only aware of the "for a selected file" trigger where "Message" can be used to ask the user for input a single time. What I need is a way to ask for more than one input at this early stage. Example, for an approval request, I need the user to answer two questions then click Run Flow.

Hi @RobWickham have you considered using a Microsoft Forms to collect the inputs you require? the responses will be available as dyname content in your Flow which you could then use to create diversion you need? Just an idea - I have done this for a few scenarios and posting responses into a SharePoint list and it works really well but will depend on your business scenario if it is fit for purpose.

Basic_User007,

I just now looked at Forms and it does not appear Forms can interact with the context of a Document Library, only with Lists. It's also unfortunate that Forms does not support pulling in dropdown list values from a SharePoint list even if the Form could be invoked from a file's context menu.

There is a Send Email with Options  action. Were you aware of this @Stephen, or has it been added since this question was asked?
