Copy action - time saver

It would be nice if I could copy an action into another. It'll make it easier and faster to complete the flow.

For example:

Depending on the day of the week, I need to update the [todayschedule] on SharePoint list.  Using the Switch/Case actions, on Monday case, add an [Update Item] action. Then copy this action for Tuesday - Friday cases and just change the [todayschedule] column without needing to select the list path, list name, ID, and other required contents each time.

Thanks.

Status: Completed

This day has finally arrived when Flow supports copy paste.

Although it seems like a simple feature to build, there is a lot of complexity involved in supporting this feature. Especially when you think about handling references and action names across flows.

I appreciate all the feedback on this post, and know that you've played a very important role in shaping the future of Microsoft Flow.

Highly recommend reading through, if you are a fan of easter eggs 🙂

As long as the dynamic content comes from a source that's still valid in the destination branch where you're pasting to (such as trigger body) then I don't see why this shouldn't be possible.

I get it that if the dynamic content comes from an action that happens in another branch it won't work, but they already figured out how to grey out the rename button of an action if it's being used as dynamic content later so it shouldn't be too hard to validate if an action can be copied somewhere else within the flow.

If used dynamic content becomes unavailable after pasting they could just show and error when saveing and allow for manual correction. This would still be much more efficient then dublicaeting entire paralell branches.

@MatthiasGvery true.

I found if you copy the body of an email action when it contains dynamic content you can still paste that text into the body of an email action in another branch and it lets you do it. The flow will not save, but it does let you paste the text.

With 349 votes, it's highly in demand 🙂  Keep voting it up!

Voted, but given they added to the backlog over a year ago it does not seem very promising.

Please get the copy function done!

Please get this added.

The capability to save most commonly used actions would be great. I agree that copying actions is a very important feature and will save a lot of time.

Some actions could be developed by more experienced Flow users and then saved into a library for the less experienced users to re-use in thier own flows.
