Copy action - time saver

It would be nice if I could copy an action into another. It'll make it easier and faster to complete the flow.

For example:

Depending on the day of the week, I need to update the [todayschedule] on SharePoint list.  Using the Switch/Case actions, on Monday case, add an [Update Item] action. Then copy this action for Tuesday - Friday cases and just change the [todayschedule] column without needing to select the list path, list name, ID, and other required contents each time.

Status: Completed

This day has finally arrived when Flow supports copy paste.

Although it seems like a simple feature to build, there is a lot of complexity involved in supporting this feature. Especially when you think about handling references and action names across flows.

I appreciate all the feedback on this post, and know that you've played a very important role in shaping the future of Microsoft Flow.

Highly recommend reading through, if you are a fan of easter eggs 🙂

The usage of Case action most of the time is used to do the same action with a different variable.

In my case I have a case for each country. So when a form request is compiled, the response is stored in a separate Excel File (visible only to the country manager).

So the action is extacly the same "INSERT ROW", just for a different file.

This is really annoying, because i have to do the same operation multiple times

It's hard to believe that Microsft flow doesn't have this capabilities !

A piece of junk! Microsft is keeing promoting those garbages to the development communities!

The products doesn't through thoughtful design phase! Sad to see today's Microsoft!

The platform is actually really amazing and I'm glad they solicit and respond to our feedback. I'm eager to watch it evolve as the devs work diligently to enhance it.

@blakezachary Being a user of Business G-suite, I can tell you that the Microsoft platform is far from amazing.

If you want to propose to the market a competitive tool, you have "at least" be sure that all basic and most common features are there before deploying it.

Especially on a business platform where people use massively and heavily new features.

Copy, Duplicate, Clone, Swap, Substitute are all basic functionality that can't be oversee and they cannot be a "nice-to-have"

MS team any update on this request around copying any actions in flow.

Same as OP, in my scenario I have a switch case which sends email to different folks according to the item selected on a dropdown list. However the template of the email remains the same, just some dynamic content also changes as the list does. Copy/Paste would prove very useful. Hopefully MS will have that addedd sometime in the near future.

Kudo Commander

This is a basic feature and would be very useful.

Many time we require to reuse [as-is or with minor changes] the existing configured aciton within the flow at multiple places and configuring the entire action again does not seems to be good option esp. if required to do multiple times.

Please add option in all actions to Copy/Paste them within the flow, similar to experience that is currently availale to build workflows using Nintex.

Ability to Copy/Paste would be a very good option and would definetly decrease the development time.

Cheers !!

Spent a ton of time creative a fancy email and query actions, would love to simply click on them and say "duplicate" or "copy" and paste" instead of building from scratch...  Nintex always offered such valuable option.

Also, please allow to duplicate or copy and paste all the actions inside of a "scope" when a Scope Action is being duplicated.

Any software 101... its hard to believe that you cant find someone to knock this out on a weekend 😞   And then in almost a year , not a single comment on this forum. What are all those folks at MS actually doing ?
