Create a trigger for SharePoint list columns

It would be nice to have a trigger if a certain column in a SharePoint list is modified. For example, if the column "Status" is modified, or if the column "Assigned To" is populated. So we don't have to use the trigger "When an item is created or modified", where you have to create a lot of workaround conditions just to make sure that the column that was updated is what you need.

Status: Under Review

Hi all,

We understand the pain points expressed here, and we are currently investigating options in building granular flow triggers for item updates and column changes in SharePoint.

We respectfully ask for your continued patience on this topic for the remainder of this calendar year. We are committed to a viable solution for our customers worldwide, and will continue to post updates here as we solidify our plans (which will most likely be early next year). Again, thank you for your patience, and your feedback on Microsoft Flow integrations with SharePoint.

Thanks,

Chakkaradeep (Chaks)

Even if it's cheap to use up the quota (or not even getting charged for it), it's practically impossible to troublshoot your flow when only 1 of 30 flows in the Flow Run History are "real flows". Imagine clicking through 60-90 flows to find the 1 or 2 actual flows you are looking for. Like finding a needle in a haystack.

@pstrindlundcat

True, MS flow really needs a better way to handle logs and list of running flows.

My current workaround is to have a terminate action if the flow is as you said not a "real flow" - I use cancelled parameter so I can see useless flows in the Flow dashboard.

I also always have the whole flow (except variables initializations) in a separete scope, than I add another scope at the end (behind the main one) that is setup to run if previous scope fails - inside there is a send email action to my account with some details and terminate action with failed parameter. This way I always know about failed flows.

The personal quota is shared across all users. And you only get billed once you exceed personal quota * number of users

@Pieter_Veenstra  Did you manage to find a workaround for this.

I am updating an item status with 'Pending' after item has been modified but when I update (update item action) it goes into infinite loop.

My use case is very simple so I am slighly surprised that I am not find a solution.

Thanks
