Create a trigger for SharePoint list columns

It would be nice to have a trigger if a certain column in a SharePoint list is modified. For example, if the column "Status" is modified, or if the column "Assigned To" is populated. So we don't have to use the trigger "When an item is created or modified", where you have to create a lot of workaround conditions just to make sure that the column that was updated is what you need.

Status: Completed

Hi all,

Happy to update that this feature is now rolled out to and available for use. The documentation is updated as well:

For more info about how to use this action, see this tutorial: Introducing 'when an item or file modified' trigger and 'Get changes' action

Thank you all for the feedback and please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Chakkaradeep

Yep this would be amazing.

Agreed - this is critical to my organisation. This is holding up our initial implementation as a lot of simple flows cannot efficiently be achieved without this trigger (for example, workflows based on when a status is changed or when someone is assigned responsibility).

Don't forget to return the previous field value so Flow can understand what value was changed from so it can route to the proper path of options...

some news abput it? or when do we get it?

@Holger78Unfortunately I dont have updates. This requires changes in the product to handle such triggers so we are actively working on how best to accomplish this scenario. We do understand the need and feedback around this ask.

I will sure update this post once I have more information. Thanks!

Need this yesterday! Looking to replace a SP2010 task management app where we log 30,000 actions a month on a list.  If I have to replicate this in Flows, the on change workflow will be firing all the time (even if it terminates immediately).  If we can trigger on a particular field changing, that would cut down dramatically.  Especially if the field being tested can feed the Switch condition.

Of course. This feature should be implemented including to get previous item/column values.

Most of the time when the flow triggers and you have a modification of an item, you want to know what column and what values changed.

But the idea has also it's own thread here:
