Trigger from Microsoft Teams

Currently Microsoft Teams integration with Flow is available in terms of "actions" (https://ms.flow.microsoft.com/en-us/services/shared_teams/microsoft-teams/). It would be useful to be able to have "triggers" from Microsoft Teams to enable scenarios such as "when a new message is posted in a channel" take "some" action...

Status: Completed

The Teams connector now supports triggers. You can read about these new triggers here: https://flow.microsoft.com/blog/support-tickets-teams-sharepoint/

I was hoping to have all chat entries on a channel create a new list item on a SharePoint List. We could then run categorizaiton and analysis off the types of questions coming into the channel.

I would also like to have a trigger on saved messages, so that I can route them further to my to-do list.

Over a year has passed and still no Team triggers!!!!!

Yea, as nice as the different uservoices are for Planner, Flow, Teams, etc. I'm finding it near impossible to track on any improvments MS is making to any of these apps. I don't know that they've done anything since we started using O365 last year! Is there a way to get on a roadmap/release notes update notification email?

Was struggling to think of a good use for Flow and then it struck me. wouldn't it be great if posting a message in teams also sent an email notifcation (as some people do not look at teams as often as tey should) unfortunately no triggers.
Also, I know the difference between, sharepoint sites, teams and groups (sort of) but most do not get it. I don't understand why all three have not be amalgamated, the functionalities should have been built on top of the original sharepoint in stead of bolted on.

JoeWright,

Teams notifications functionality is built-in (Teams > Settings > Notifications), you do not need Flow for that. Groups is built on top of Azure AD, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange (and Compliance) platforms and Teams is built on Groups - not sure what your understanding is but its definitely not bolted on!

Level of undertanding = low.

Thanks for the info, will this just change my settings though? I want to make it so that the whole team receives an email notification if something is posted.

You could @mention Team or Channel to ensure whole Team / Channel receives the Banner notification. Whether or not and how frequent one receives email is personal choice and configurable at Teams > Settings > Notifications.

yes I @ the team but they dont look at teams! lol

Thats more of a culture shift and end user training conversation. If they use Teams client, they should be seeing pop-up notifications (with sound) for @mentions. However, if it helps in your case, you could ask users to bump up notifications and subscribe for additional emails. 🙂
