Dataflow errors with Alternate Keys of multiple columns

Hi,

I was able to load data from Azure SQL server into Power Platform CDS using Power App Dataflows. The Lookup fields were also populating correctly by defining Alternate Keys.

I referred to https://dynamicscitizendeveloper.com/2020/04/21/how-to-map-a-lookup-field-in-a-power-platform-datafl...

this blog to load data in lookup fields. Thanks to @HSheild

However, the Power App Dataflows started throwing errors when I updated my existing alternate key to have 2 columns (combination) in a single alternate key. Refer below the alternate key - I have defined SiteName and StateName as a combination of NewKey for Alternate Key. Earlier, I had only SiteName in Alternate key which was working fine.

After, updating this alternate key, I updated Dataflow to map SiteName and StateName as shown below -

However, the Dataflow throws this error - "Missing destination field cra04_lookupsitenamefield.cra04_statename in the schema".

Could someone clarify if we have multiple fields in Alternate Keys, then Dataflows does not support it? Or is there anything I am missing from my end?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Rameshwarc,

from what I know and my tests, unfortunately Dataflows does not yet support multiple fields/columns alternate keys.

I recommend you submit that idea at: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Apps-Ideas/idb-p/PowerAppsIdeas because it would be a really good feature to have!

cheers

Thank you @EricRegnier for the confirmation.

I have submitted the idea at Power Apps community Ideas section. Refer link below -

Thanks again!

@EricRegnier I have three tables that have an index number (for multiple locations, etc.) for each projectIDcode. Then there is a master list with all the project ID codes. Are you saying I'm not able to relate these two entities in Dataverse at this time?

Hi @jaeiow , yes unfortunately as I'm aware as of now, alternate keys in Dataflows can only be set to one field/column. As a workaround, you can create merge columns that form the index indexs into one in Power Query and populate it to a single column in Dataverse?

If you have one unique index in 3 tables and wanting to import into 3 tables then yes you can do that.

Cheers,

I actually used an Append, Unpivot, and then used Dataverse Views to filter the unpivotted data, since I had multiple sequences to dedicate separate powerapps forms to.
