Power Platform integration with Azure APIM prevision in a VNet Internal mode

We have an Azure APIM provision in a VNet internal mode as described in this article: Connect to an internal virtual network using Azure API Management | Microsoft Docs. We can successfully consume APIs in APIM with postman and via the Developer Portal from within the corporate network. However, we don’t have any connectivity between Power Platform and APIM; error message while testing a Custom Connector from Power Apps:

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to enable comms between Power Platform and Azure APIM in VNet Internal mode. Any links and reference material are highly appreciated.

please try to export your APIs to Power Platform so they're available

Thanks for response. I am aware how to create a custom connector from Azure APIM and publish it to Power Platform. My issue was that I couldn't consume the API endpoint as our APIM is in VNet internal mode. Using VNet Data Gateway is not an option for us as it's in preview and we are a government entity.  

As solution we provisioned an Applcation Gateway with WAF applied in front of APIM that only allows traffic in from Power Platform. Reference blog post here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/azure-paas-blog/apim-with-application-gateway-v1/ba-p/1795180

You can use Azure ExpressRoute to redirect Power Platform traffic through your VNETs. That is the only way you can reach an internal API management resource directly. Front door/Traffic Manager/Application Gateways are a possible alternative as you already set up.

@Ionaaa Can you please give more details on how it is possible to "redirect" Power Platform traffic through your Vnets? I have site to site connection between on-prem and Azure vnets but can't make Power Platform reaches those Azure Vnets.
