Sync Entities Between 2 Environments?

Hi,

I need to periodically sync several entities from a source Dynamics 365 environment to another cloned Dynamics 365 environment (containing the same entities). The sync should only be one way i.e. Source > Destination.

How can this be achieved? Is there any out-of-the-box way to do this?

Thanks

Hello,

you can try to use PowerAutomate/Flow, using the Common Data Service Connector, to retrieve the records and Update/Create them, within the other environment.

So please have a look at the following documentation for a similar example:

- docs.microsoft.com/.../odata-filters

- docs.microsoft.com/.../connection-dynamics365

- docs.microsoft.com/.../connection-cds

I hope these information will further help you, to apply it within a similar suitable way.

There are a few options here that can be used. I would pick the one most appropriate for your organisation. It also depends on how "enterprise" this solution needs to be and what your budget is.

High Cost / "Enterprise Solutions"

  1. Personally, I would use Azure Data Factory (ADF). You can think of ADF as SQL Server Integration Services as a Platform (SSIS) in Azure.
  2. If you are familiar with SSIS then you could use SSIS with the KingswaySoft Adapters.
  3. You could run a WebJob or Azure Function that uses the Power Platform SDK.

High Cost / "Simple Solutions"

  1. As Daniel mentioned about PowerAutomate is a potential technology that could be used.
  2. Power Platform has export and import functionality. You could manually export the data from the target and import it into the destination. This could be automated using the Configuration Migration Tool. I would highly recommend this approach if your solution does not have to be fully automated. Configuration Migration Tool Docs - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/manage-con....
  3. A .net Console application that uses the Power Platform C# SDK to sync data from source to target.

I am happy to provide more details once I know more about the sync process. Such as Does it have to be fully automated? What your budget is? Does it need enterprise integration features such as auditions, replayability (retries) and error logging? Can it be a manual or semi-manual process?

Hope the above 6 options give you some ideas.

I'd use the Data Integration projects from the CDS Admin Center. Those are one-way, environment-to-environment, entity-to-entity maps, project can contain more entities, run in a specific order. That should cover your requirements as I read them.
