Change the value of a variable without a question

In my current scenario, I'd ask the user to select a person (from multiple options) who he/she'd like to send an email to. The option that the user selected will then be saved to a variable which will be sent to a Power Automate Action.

I created the Action in a way that it'd just accept a variable which should contain the email address that it will send an email to. Because of this, the value of the options that I mentioned earlier are the email addresses of the people a user can send an email to instead of just their names.

Basically I'd like to have my question to have the names of the people as an option. That name will then be saved to a variable, then I'd change that variable's value to the email address of that person before sending it to the Action.

This is highly needed for me too, but I fear they worked themselves into a corner by only allowing a variable being assigned a single time. This is to support their feature of when a variable is called, it going back to the question that assigned it and thus needs a single target question.

This really disrupts the workflow if you have a multi-branching conversation in mind that needs to end at the same point: the bot just doesn't allow re-merging.
