Create App from Excel file stored on SharePoint

I think there should be functionality to build App from the excel file stored in Sharepoint? I know its possible to make App directly from Sharepoint-List but to make same from excel file stored in Share Point will be more beneficial because excel is used more as compared to Sharepoint - List

Any update on this idea please. This seems to be important as creating lists in sharepoint doesn't seems to be worth working on.

Agreed with @ashokpershad .
Taking an excel sheet based enquiry form which is sitting on Sharepoint and allowing it to be edited via powerapps would fantastic!

It would mean that everyone within the organisation (with access) could change, view and edit fields on the move. Creating a seperate list on sharepoint via a powerapp in order to add a row in a query on an excel sheet is just another step which could be avoided.

when will this be available?

any updates?

I want to add the prospective of a large corporate user base here. Excel is often the 'pseudo gateway' of choice for connections to many non-supported data sources such as SQL, Analytics cubes, Power BI datasets, etc.  – not to mention thousands of native Excel data sources in the average shop. If only Read access to Excel tables were available in a first release, it would plug a significant gap.  As SP O365 is a solution based on OneDrive functionality (or vise versa) this would seem to be a solution that is not a significant departure from personal OneDrive supported access.

This is like the very first of all use Cases... Store data in Excel, Put it in a Teams site, then allow me to reach that with PowerApps.

Having to create a SharePoint list first is so counter-productive. And yes since Microsoft promotes teams, editing information in a Excel sheet should work when the file is store in Teams (which lays on top of SharePoint)

Please update on the status, because as of now I have created apps using Excel file stored in the One-drive for business on my name. Thing is we are working on team and putting file in one-drive for business and then sharing the folder doesn't seems to be right practice. If we can get same feature in the Sharpoint then there is nothing better then that since even if I leave the company there is always otehrs to contribute. I hope you guys getting me what I am trying to say here.

Its been already one year since this Idea been raised. Hope to see the solution soon.

Guys Any Update Please? In order to move forward and convince management on using CDS we have to show them some proof of concept which can only be possible using EXCEL files stored in Sharepoint.
