Please add feature sharing apps with external users
The ability to share canvas apps with external users is now availabile in public preview! The documentation can be found here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/share-app#share-with-guests
The blog announcement is here: https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/share-canvas-apps-with-guests-in-your-organization/
The inability of letting external users to use PowerApps, not even through Guest Accounts in AD, is mildly put disappointing. I'm working for a client with thousands of SharePoint/O365 users, and of course they have plenty of use cases with collaboration needs with external users. The solutions we can provide them with without PowerApps are clunky, inefficient and certainly will not enhance the user acceptance of those solutions nor Office 365 generally.
Hopefully this idea will soon be implemented!
@Audrie-MSFT It's been almost 2 years since that idea/request and more than a year since your "under review" status. Could you kindly provide an update on that? Any information (issues, progress, workarounds etc) would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Okay so I can see that this is a really old thread, but is this sharing issue something that they are working on? Because it would be incredibly helpful and I don't understand why it doesn't have these capabilities at all. Is there a work around where powerapps can still be used, or should i come up with my own alternative completly?
I found AppSheets, it is very reasonably priced and it can work with a file in your Dropbox or Box (and I believe Google Drive and maybe even OneDrive). I don't imagine it will work for everyone, but it's worth a look.
@benglert Thanks for this suggestion, I had heard it before but unfortunately it does not allow for linking to Sharepoint for as far as I know.
@Audrie-MS It's been almost 2 years since that idea/request and more than a year since your "under review" - really would like some information on sharing to external users before I delve any deeper in using this technology and advising clients on whether this is a viable option.
Since PowerApps do not still support sharing with external users, I can recommend taking a look at Microsoft Forms which can be published to any web sites for anonymous users or a 3-rd party solution - Plumsail Forms which allows you to design fully responsive forms with tabs, grids, accordions and many other features and publish them either on public web sites or in SharePoint modern pages. You can handle form submissions with Microsoft Flow and save data to any storage - Excel files in OneDrive, SQL databases, SharePoint lists, send by e-mail etc.
i worked a week to figure how things worked and now i see i can not share it with external users ...; what is the purpose of this .it is of no use .
