Variable Watch

When building complex Apps with many variables and collections, it would be good to have a way to view all the variables and collections as thye are changing.  I'm aware that there's a screen that shows them, but it means that I need to exit the app each time to see the status, which slows down development.

One workaround I often use is to introduce temporary controls to display the variables I want to observe as I develop.

For instance, a label off to the side that has its text property as the variable's value.

It would be very nice to have something built in for that, though! Perhaps toggles introduced to the current variables browser to select which variables you would like to see in your tracking display?

@Hooze ,

Yes, that is a work-around and requires a lot of manual work, especially if there are many variables.  Thanks for your thoughts though.

It’d be such a simple yet great improvement to have the variable list (the one available in the backstage) as a collapsable pane in the main screen ^^

Have you tried the experimental feature where you can see debug info in the formula bar btw? Great stuff, really!
