Turning Topic status to Off

Hi

We have 1 chatbot set up and within this a number of topics.

We now need to 'turn off' a number of topics.

We have found that if we turn Status to Off for all of the topics - because they are linked to other System Topics i.e. Greeting, Confirmed Failure - we are getting error messages for the topics switched to Off which means we are unable to publish from our Dev environment to our Live environment.

We believe the error messages are caused by the fact that each of the topics have associated conditions.  The only solution we have found which enables us to effectively turn off topics is by switching status to Off and also deleting topic conditions.  Obviously we don't want to do this as it means re-building those topics at a later date.

If anyone can help with a solution that would be great!

Hi @JenMin78,

Can you share a screenshot of the config one of your topics which you can't individually disable/turn off?

In my demo environment I tried to reproduce this. But I was able to turn off and publish my bot with a topic which had a link to a system topic. So unfortunately, I wasn't able to reproduce your issue.

@JenMin78, you can also clone your existing topic and make updates there so it doesn't impact the existing topic you have. When you are done updating, then link to the new topic and remove your old one.

Hi

below is screen shot showing topic status to Off and error showing on Greeting topic now

because the Greeting topic points to the topic that is now switched off it is showing an error

thanks - I don't think that would work in this case as we need to turn a number of topics off and then turn them back on later in the year.  Although helpful to understand that you can clone topics

Hi @JenMin78,

Can you also share screenshots of the config in the authoring canvas of the WASTE Christmas waste list of options
& Greeting topics.

I want to see if I can reproduce this on my development environment. That makes it easier to figure out a workaround 😁

above is Christmas waste list of options

below is Greeting - you will see Christmas Waste is in the pick list of the Greeting - hence the error?

@JenMin78 To clarify my suggestion from earlier, if say Greeting topic has redirection to Christmas Waste topic, and you are in the process of updating Christmas Waste topic but need to publish the bot for other topics that are ready. You can clone the Christmas Waste topic to 'Christmas Waste - 1' and make updates there. Change the original Christmas Waste topic to a currently acceptable content and publish the bot. After you have finished updated 'Christmas Waste - 1', change Greeting topic to redirect to it, then turn off the original Christmas Waste topic or remove it.
