Export To File for Power BI Report - Error 404 "FeatureNotAvailableError"

I get error 404 "FeatureNotAvailableError" on using Export To File for Power BI Report

The Power BI report is in a Premium workspace set up through the Power BI Premium Per User trial. I tried exporting as PDF or PPTX but both fail with the same error.

The error message is not super helpful to work out what part of the step is actually not available.

Hello @Indy96

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, for this type of issues maybe the first step will be to confirm if the Workspace and report still exists, if so, do you have access to manipulate them with the same user that you are creating this flow?

If the answer it's yes, then my recommendation will be to open a support request as additional information and traces will be required, specially since the error message is nor explaining much of the underlining issue to suggest additional ideas.

I hope this at least can point you in the right direction.

Thanks.

Yes the workspace and report still exist (I'm the owner and have converted them into a Premium/dedicated space).

I am currently already working with support to figure out what is actually happening under the hood.

Hello,

I get the same error. I also you a Premium Per User trial to export a Power BI report to PDF or PPTX. Have you found a solution?

No solution - I got confirmation from Microsoft that the 'export to pdf' functionality is NOT part of the Premium-Per-User trial and that it is only a Premium feature. I personally think that does not make sense though.

I have submitted an 'idea' for this here: https://ideas.powerbi.com/ideas/idea/?ideaid=09c1b59c-a73a-eb11-8fed-281878a5ca29

Hi - does this also apply to the 'export to PPTX' feature?

Is it that the entire 'Export to File for Power BI Report' feature in Power Automate is only available with the Power BI Premium capacity, not on the Premium per User version?

Please, it is important to do this function. This is the only reason we have upgraded to the "premium per user" license, only to find that this feature is not included. You will be canceling the subscription until it is effective.
Thank you

Ran into the same issue today. PPU licence, premium workspace. Is this possible with PPU? It's the only reason we purchased the licence.

Hi @Indy96 How did you contact Microsoft to get confirmation of this? I have some questions regarding the Premium-Per-User features and would love to speak to someone at Microsoft.

Kind regards,

Lizi

I'm in the same boat.  There's nothing to suggest that Premium Per User would have different Power Automate features than Premium (except, of course, which users are able to access the data).

Has anyone been able to confirm that this feature is note available for Premium Per User?

Exactly this: Has anyone been able to confirm that this feature is note available for Premium Per User?

@nbjdeunk - I still haven't found documentation on this anywhere official, but I've run a number of tests and from what I'm found I'm pretty confident that the 'Export to file for Power BI reports" is NOT available under the premium per user license.

What is available, is the 'Export to file for Power BI Paginated Reports'.  That one works just fine under the premium per user license.  However, it's completely different reporting software than Power BI, and works more like building a report in Access.  It also will only allow you to generate one report every five minutes, which depending on what you are doing might be a big deal.

Hi Jronash,

Thanks! I think you're totally right.

So;

  • No interactive reports
  • Paginated reports, only one per 5 minutes

That's it for now. I hope the export will also become available for interactive reports, but I'm in doubt it ever will. We'll see.

It's stated here:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-premium-per-user-faq#considerations-and-limi...

The fourth bullet states:

  • The export API for PPU is available for paginated reports, with a limit of one call every 5 minutes, per user. Power BI reports are not supported.

I don't find a good reason for this, but at least is documented. It will be very hard to justify a $3,000~ purchase if I can't test that the product I'm buying includes the feature my clients are demanding.

This is a big disappointment.

I just encountered this error, and reading through this post and the linked 'Ideas' page makes me want to flip over my desk and morph into The Hulk. Just about every time I need to try something out with Power Automate or Power BI, I hit some sort of roadblock. Now this might just be the last straw. Why in the world would this NOT be a feature in the Premium Per User license?

poor do when you pay for a Premium Per User licence that doesn't include something as simple as this.....definitely not worth the ridiculous Premium Capacity prices anyway

Disappointed as well.

Anyone was able to get a resolution for this issue?

No, I do what I can with subcription functionality. If you want to send just 1 sheet its ok for you. Im reporting sheet by sheet of every file. Its not what we want but its what we have.

Il investigate the suscription funtionality in order to find a better solution (at least send all in 1 file).
