Flow fails on empty title field

Good morning - I have a Flow that fetches the information from a list and puts it into Planner. Pretty simple, right? Except...

The list in question is a form (nintex, though that doesn't really matter) and once the user hits submit a workflow kicks off to give it a Form Number. But for a few seconds, that title field is empty while the workflow runs. Once the workflow is complete, it places the Form Number in the title field.

The Form number is needed for this planner portion.

But it fails because when the Flow kicks off it sees the Title is empty and stops.

I put in a wait condition, but it looks like the Flow pulls the information BEFORE waiting, so the same problem applies.

Any advice?

Re: Flow fails on empty title field

That's the value from the trigger action.  The one from the Get Item would be something like

body('Get Item')['Title']

Search on title in the dynamic content list when you insert it and you will see two entries.  Make sure you use the one under get item.

Re: Flow fails on empty title field

After the wait you put in the Flow do a Get Item and use the ID from the trigger to get a new copy of the listitem.  That way you should have the Title.  Just make sure you use the dynamic data from the second Get Item for the rest of the Flow.

Re: Flow fails on empty title field

I added in the item, using the Get Item and used the ID number from SharePoint as the Id, but it still failed on the No Title issue. Am I doing it wrong?

Re: Flow fails on empty title field

Did you make sure to pull the dynamic data from the Get Item action and not from the original trigger?  The Get Item will get you a seperate set of values, which should include the title if its been updated.  But you have to be careful when using the dynamic content, because you will now have two title fields.  One will be blank and one should contain data.

I don't think I am, but I am not sure where to put it? Here is the flow.

Re: Flow fails on empty title field

If you hover the mouse over Form Number in the title field you should see a JSON description of the field.  What does that say?
