How do I automatically post a Happy Birthday message in Teams?

I have all of my employees' birthdays in my Outlook 365 calendar. They are all-day events. I am struggling to create a flow that automatically outputs the following on their birthday into a post in Teams:

Today is [Name]'s birthday! Happy birthday!

[Happy Birthday gif]

I have been working on this for a week. Thanks in advance.

Hi @grantfuhr ,

You could use Filter array to filter the eligible events and post the message to Teams channel:

You could also click Edit in advanced mode to enter multiple conditions to filter events.

Hope this helps.

Thank you @v-bacao-msft. That works great! Is there a way to post the message at 8:00 AM every day?

Will this work for multiple birthdays on the same day?

Thanks again! You are awesome!

Hi @grantfuhr ,

You could set Recurrence as follows:

Filter array will filter all eligible events in the current date.

@v-bacao-msft and @grantfuhr  - Would you mind sharing the flow as a zip here so people could experiment with it?

Love this idea, but like @harshkohli , I struggle to create it from start to finish. Thanks for sharing guys!

It stopped working for me too. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi @v-bacao-msft ,

Thank you for this. I tried using the same filter array but unfortunately the output body cannot retrieve any information from the birthday calendar. Then I tried using "contains" instead of "starts with"(See below), then the power automate successfully post a message in our teams. However, it post the same message in two(2) consecutive days every 7:00AM from the birthday calendar. I wonder what is wrong to my filter. I would greatly appreciate if you can help me to my concern. Thanks

You can do that with apps like https://billybirthday.com/microsoft-teams

Hi @grantfuhr ,

To automate happy birthday messages in your Teams channel, install AnnounceBot from the Microsoft Teams app store. You only need to select your Teams channel to set it up.

Getting started with this birthday bot is simple. It automatically collects the dates for you or if you already have the dates you can bulk upload and manage them using a spreadsheet template. Along with birthday messages, it's great for work anniversary celebrations and special events like holidays, and new hire onboarding.
