How to Update a Row

I have set up a multi approval process and want to update a row every time someone either rejects or approves the request. However, I keep coming up against this error.

Can anyone help? Could it be because the colums on the row i want to update have nothing in them? As i added these colums to my excel spreadsheet and then wanted to update the row with the response of the users who are either approving or rejecting the process.
