Http Error 400 Bad Request while trying to update Sharepoint list field

Hi,

I'm facing an issue I cant understand.

I have a powerapps application that is linked to a sharepoint list to create evaluations that will be stored in the sharepoint list.

I have a flow that is triggered by an exportPDF function inside the app (based on the powerapps911 tutorial).

My flow starts to create some variables to generate then the html file inside a sharepoint document library (the same as the sharepoint list).

After that I want to create a sharing link for this document because I dont want the users to know the full url of the sharepoint site.

Finally I want to pu this new link inside a specific sharepoint list item that is based on a special field in the sharepoint list item that matches to the html filename.

Everything works fine except the final step when the flows has to update the field with the sharing link.

In my test I see that the apply to each fails at the last item which is the correct one to update, so I suppose that the apply to each condition is correct.

In this apply to each result "Yes", I create the sharing link and I update the sharepoint list Item to put the sharing link.

It fails at this "Update item" steps, considering that the url from the sharing link is invalid.

I don't understand why because when I copy paste the generated sharing link into another browser pages, its correct, it takes me to the correct html file.

So I don't why it doesnt work.

The PDF field of the sharepoint list that needs to be updated is rich multiple line text field. If I add manually the url it works, so its not a field format issue.

We can see also in the error that the field and the update that should be made are correct, datas are correct, so I dont understand what is causing this 400 Bad Request error....

Any idea ?

Thanks

In fact I was right, the problem was coming from the Apply_to_each dynamic expression.

I used the previous step expression instead and it worked...

So I don't know what is really the point of this dynamic expression if we cant use it...

Hello,

I would first suggest creating a simple test flow with just below steps, and confirm if its able to update the field. I did a test and it works fine for me.

Field Type: Multiple lines of text.

Screen2.png

If this works for you, then you should check if it fails for all records in the list or just the specific item.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I have created another test flow with less steps, sad to tell that results are the same...

Here is what I've created :

TRIGGER : When a file is created in a folder

ACTION : Get file metadata

ACTION : Get Items (my sharepoint list)

CONDITION : Apply to each : DisplayName(file metadata) countains FID(sharepoint list text field)

YES :

  • Create Sharing link for the file (view only, people in your organisation)
  • Update Item, (Item ID from applytoeach, FID field update with the sharing link)

Same result at the update Item :

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN""http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Bad Request</TITLE>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" Content="text/html; charset=us-ascii"></HEAD>
<BODY><h2>Bad Request - Invalid URL</h2>
<hr><p>HTTP Error 400. The request URL is invalid.</p>
</BODY></HTML>

Error in the flow summary :

Unable to process template language expressions for action 'Condition' at line '1' and column '2845': 'The template language function 'contains' expects parameters of matching types: a dictionary and a key (string), an array and a value (object), or a string and a substring. The provided types 'String' and 'Null' are incompatible. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions#contains for usage details.'.

Here is the generated sharing link : https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/:u:/s/XXHRMitarbeiterBewertung/EQuKMXlRFqpJi7gmvjEKO_YBtQ0m5x4JDsxO...

I tryed other things, without success :

- Update the sharepoint list on new simple text field.

- Update the sharepoint list on a test hyperlink field.

- Initialize string variable from the sharing link, and tryed to update the sharepoint list item with this variable.

I have checked other flows I've created months ago that are working fine.

I'm sure the problem comes from the dynamic expression returned by the "Apply to each" step.

Because the condition check works, the error is displayed on the 4th element of list, which the good one to operate on related to the condition check.

But no matter what kind of step I put after the Yes or No answers, when I use the dynamic expression CurrentItem returned by the "Apply to each" step (which I need to use to operate on the returned sharepoint list item) for a Get Item or Update Item, I have receive the BadRequest.

I tryed with 2 new test flows with others sharepoint list, fields : same result.

I'm sure at 100% there is a problem with this "Apply to each" dynamic expressions returned, they doent look compatible for use with sharepoint list actions after.

For info the full expression of the CurrentItem dynamic expression : items('Apply_to_each')

In fact I was right, the problem was coming from the Apply_to_each dynamic expression.

I used the previous step expression instead and it worked...

So I don't know what is really the point of this dynamic expression if we cant use it...
