Need Advice on how to keep multiple Approval Requests from failing

I am launching an automated sign up list using PowerAutomate (Flow) at my work.

We were testing today so multiple people were sending requests at one time. It caused the Flow to fail because of too many requests at once.

I am worried we will have this issue when it launches. Is there a way I can put a timer in front of the flow to keep them from being hit all at once? Would that even help? I am just trying to get it past that first launch so it's not breaking. Any ideas?

Hi @Becca51178 ,

I'm afraid that there is no any way to achieve the requirement.

Re: Need Advice on how to keep multiple Approval Requests from failing

Hi @Becca51178 ,

If I understand correctly, you are trying to build a signup process where users can sign up. I would recommend you to use Power Apps with Power Automate for this requirement.

  • Build a User Signup Power APP, where users can signup and submit the request.
  • Initiate a Power Automate (either on button click on Power APP or a Request Item create in SharePoint ) and perform the renaming process.

Let me know if this helps.

Ok it all starts in a power app, but I had a bunch of approval requests fail today because so many people sent one. How do I Keep them from hitting all at once? Is that even possible?

Re: Need Advice on how to keep multiple Approval Requests from failing

Hi @Becca51178 ,

  1. If you are already using PowerApps, then you can try adding a "Timer" input and set the duration to number using the "Rand()" function. So this will generate a random duration and delay the request. Please note this may be just a workaround.
  2. Delaying Power Automate will only be the best option if your Power Automate failing on some action after it gets triggered. If it fails before the trigger, a delay will not work.

I think there should be a more logical answer to this, could you please share some more details of your design ,Power Automate and Power Apps. It will help to understand your issue.
