Start an approval flow does not send e-mail

Suddenly all my flows with approvals stopped working!

 

Everything gets frozen when the flow needs to send the e-mail for approval and the approval is never completed.

 

Can someone help me out?

Maybe it is a accidental error has been fixed now, please make a test again and let me know if the issue still exists.

Are you using the Start and Wait for Approval action or just the Create Approval action?  Or are you working with one of the templates that uses older approval actions.

 

  • If you are using Create Approval then you need to add a matching Wait for Approval action.  Create Approval is half of an Asynchronous Approval process.
  • If you are using Start and Wait for Approval then make sure that whoever you are sending the email to is actually responding.  The flow will remain paused on that action until all responses are returned. That's the way its designed to work.
  • If you are using a template then make sure you replace the approval actions with current Approval actions, like Start and Wait for an Approval.  Those older actions have been deprecated and won't work anymore.  After replacing the Approval actions you will also have to update other things in the flow that will break because of the way Approvals have changed.

Hi @ChristianAbata ,

 

I checked the approvals and everything is registered there (all the flows sent). I can also see all the flows I received and approve them. However, I never get an e-mail with the approval request. 

 

When I manually approve the flow, then all the other steps work fine.

@flafioa Yes this thinks Happends is like a bug.

Hi @Pstork1 ,

 

I am using the Start and Wait for Approval flow.

 

I am using my own flows as well as templates. 

 

When I check al the approvals, everything is fine. I can even manually approve the flows that I receive, even though I never got the e-mail in my e-mail box.

 

Do you have any idea what is going on?

If the approvals are assigned to you and are showing up in the flow panel, but not in your mailbox, then check your Exchange Online service.  I've seen the approval emails get filtered out as SPAM in the past.  Also check your Junk folder in your mailbox.

I received all the approvals e-mails yesterday and at the same time.

 

Why it took so long to receive it? Did it get "stuck" somewhere?

I would assume something in your Exchange Online was failing to deliver the messages.  Whatever it was got fixed.
