The logic makes sense, I must be missing something

Hello All!

 

I wanted to bring this up since I have been battling this flow for the past several days. Its time to revamp this and I am very new to this and teaching myself how to use PW. The things I learn about building flows are from you and trail and error! 

 

I built a intercompany help desk system using D365 and MS Forms, a user (either inside or outside the company) will go to the form and fill it out. Once they submit the form, I am trying to have my flow take that form response and search CRM for a matching email. Just check and see if they user exist or not. (Many months back one of you helped me with that part!) If the system cant find that matching email then I want it to create a contact and research so I can grab the guid id of that contact. I need the id of the contacts in order to create the case. (That was more help from you all! I never knew about the ids attached to records in CRM) I did some testing before adding the second search it worked just as I would expect. It will create the contact if there is no match and will create the case if there is a match. However as soon as there is no match and it needs to create a contact, I add the second search in the flow to grab the ids and it will not find it. As soon as the flow fails, I check CRM and the contact is there but I dont know why it wont pull it. 

 

I dont know if this is timing thing or a refresh thing but some help would be appreciated on this. I feel like this is my last speed bump and once I have this then my flow will be perfect! Maybe I am doing something wrong or missing a step but I just need some help from my friends in this community!

You mentioned you are searching emails on contact so I would use the Filter Query

Under the IF condition you can use the below expression to check the record count

 

length(outputs('List_rows')?['body/value'])
 
Note: in your case you used the search and system need to index first, hence you are not getting the right results for the newly created record. Also after the newly created contact you can get the GUID (Id) in your next step. See below
