I've an flow approval set on an item in a document library. when this item is approved I have an update item change the choice from pending to approved. However, I also have a sperate master list which id also like to update with the apporval status also. How can I achieve this?
Hi @Shaney ,
Could you share more details on your scenario?
It seems that you have enabled Approval status in both the library and list.
Do you want to update the Approval status to Approved in the library and list when a file is approved?
I have made a flow likes below for your reference.
Add the trigger When a file is created or When a file is created or modified.
Then Start and wait for an approval.
Add a Condition to check if the Response is equal to Approve.
Under If yes branch, Get file metadata, then Set content approval status of the file in the library to Approved.
To update corresponding item in the list which has the same ID, Get items from the list.
Then add a Condition to check if the ID (from the trigger) is equal to ID (from the action Get items).
Under if yes branch, add action Set content approval 2 to set the Approval status of the list to Approved.
Images for your reference.
Thanks for your response.
My requirements may be slightly more complicated unfortunately. I have a form which on submission creates a folder in a document library with all relevant attached documents. Only one of these documents need to be set for approval and the approval status needs to be displayed in a custom master list (approval status does not need to be display on library) so the ID from the trigger may not be equal to that of the list.
Can / should I set a variable to query if the folder itemID equals that of the list?
I’ve also multiple approvals so (depending on the application it may require a different departmental approval) so id need to use the update item with Approval trigger response / Comments.
Any advice / guidance much appriciated.
Hi @Shaney ,
Do you have a column ItemID in the library which has the ID value of the list?
If yes, then you could just add a condition to check if the ItemID is equal to ID. If yes, update the update item with “Approve”.
Please take a try with it.
