flow not updating field in list in another field in another list

Hi,

I am trying to create an overtime powerapp using 2 sharepoint lists and a approval workflow.

One list contains my name and total time of overtime.

The other list contains my name, the starting hours and ending hours and the calculated time of that day I did overtime.

The basics are that I open a powerapp, my name is filled in, I enter the start and end date and start and end hour.

IT then calculates the overtime and I can add a reason and click on Submit.

When this is done the approval flow starts and a mail is sent to my boss. If he then approves it, the calculated overtime should be added to my total time I have.

In the workflow however it does not seem to be able to find my id (or name) between the lists so it can add the time to the correct user. (in this example I just coded it, it would add 1, so not the real time it should add)

Hi @Anonymous

1. In your flow, you are using the start an approval action (is this just create an approval or start and wait for an approval action?) If it is just create an approval, flow will not wait until someone responds and move to the next action. If it is start and wait for an approval then it will wait until the approval is approved/ rejected before moving to the next step.

2. In the Get items action, you can use the filter query Lst_Overuren_User eq '' "select the LstUsers_User in the '' from the dynamic selector".

that way you can get rid of the condition 2 and directly use the update item action to update the other list.

Hope this Helps!

So, can anyone help?

Also, as soon as I can click on Approve in the mail, a webpage opens and I need to do the approve in there, but how can I make it work that one does not need to open a webpage but that it is approved from within the mail?

@yashag2255 ,

1. Yes it is an approval workflow that waits. That works.

The idea is that my overtime is only calculated as soon as the boss approves the overtime I did.

2. can you please show me screenshot example??

Hi @Anonymous

I somehow missed your message. Were you able to resolve?

Approve

Reject

But if I click on Approve, a website is opened.

I just want it to be approved. How can I solve this?

@yashag2255

How can I make this work by the way:

add(item()?['LstUsers_TotUren'],['Lst_OverUren_TotaalTijd'])

Hi @Anonymous

I am not able to reproduce the issue at my end. Can you please share a screenshot of the email that you get fro approval? Does it include the adaptive approval card?

The adaptive card looks like: here you an approve/reject within the mail itself.

This is the regular email and pressing the button will navigate you to the other site.

Hope this Helps!

Hi @yashag2255 , this is how the step and the mail looks like:

Hey @Anonymous

So the flow action is good. The problem is with the Outlook client that you are using. Can you try logging to https://outlook.office.com/ and login with your credentials? You should be able to see the flow approvals adaptive card here.

Also, can you share details on the add expression that you are working with? I am assuming yo want to add elements from the different lists and then you have this in the apply to each?

@yashag2255  the approve button is an issue in my version of Office ....

I'm removing and reinstalling as we speak.

So that part should be resolved.

Hi @Anonymous

Yes. Reinstalling the latest version of Outlook should resolve that.

About adding the columns, I am not able to see those in your screenshot that you shared. Can you share details on the items you want to add? (Maybe the List name and the column name or point those in the first screenshot that you shared)

@yashag2255 , Uninstalling and reinstalling solved the outlook issue pfff

I want to add the value of Lst_OverUren_Totaal from the top list to the field Lst_Users_TotUren from the bottom list:

lists.png

Hi @Anonymous

Try using this expression for adding in the apply to each loop:

add(items('Apply_to_each')?['Lst_Users_TotUren'], triggerBody()?['Lst_OverUren_Totaal'])
Hope this Helps!

@yashag2255

No, then it says:

InvalidTemplate. Unable to process template language expressions for action 'Condition' at line '1' and column '2702': 'The template language function 'contains' expects its first argument 'collection' to be a dictionary (object), an array or a string. The provided value is of type 'Null'.'.
