Filter data table records based on Current user

Hi,

I am new to PowerApps and I am creating an app which would be used by multi-users in the organization.

At present, I am using SQL Server Express edition for storing the data tables and using on-premise connectors for Power Apps.

I want to understand the possibilities of applying row level security. One of the key feature would be that users can only view/edit records created by them or assigned to them.

Please help!

Thanks,

Vivek

Re: Filter data table records based on Current user

Hi @vranjan22,

Usually, we use the User() function to filter current user data. But notice that the information returned from User() function is for the current PowerApps user. It will match the "Account" information that is displayed in the PowerApps players and studio, which can be found outside of any authored apps. This may not match the current user's information in SQL table. So I think this cannot be achieved in PowerApps so far.

Mona

@v-monli-msft

Thank you, Mona for your response!

I understand that it is a current system limitation of Power Apps and SQL Server Express edition. Is there a possibility of acheiveing this by using combination of Sharepoint & Microsoft Flow?

The row level security/access control is required to acheive information sharing restrictions within the organization.

Thanks,

Vivek
