How to make a flow that can be run by other people and puts the name in the column Created By and Changed By in the list ?

Dear Experts,

I want to make a flow that creates a SharePoint List row for me and my colleagues. So i have shared the flow with my colleagues.

The SharePoint List also contains the columns "Created by" and "Changed by".

But when a colleague runs the flow (that i have created). My name appears in the column Created By and Changed by.

instead of the name of the colleague that has run the flow. What do i have to do to correct this.

So how to get the name of the person that has triggered the flow:

You can use a ValidateUpdateListItem() SharePoint API call using the 'Send an HTTP request to SharePoint' action, @PeKi72 .

This might take a few tries for you to get it right ... but it is a really good thing to "keep failing at" to knock it in to your head. 😅

I also think that @Expiscornovus has a page on it somewhere, too!!

Basically, it works by editing only the fields that you want changed to be what you want them to be, and theoretically shouldn't indicate any change to the list or library. Although I have found that part to be lacking in recent months.

So just make sure that you don't make any loops in your flow. 😉

I have used that approach a couple of times. You can update the Author and Editor fields with it.
