Rename multiple folders in document library

We have multiple folders that need to be renamed and I was wondering if it could be accomplished using Power Automate?  Each folder has a unique name, e.g., [last name], [first initial of first name] (current folder name) and needs to be renamed, [last name], [first name].  If this is possible, I honestly don't know where to begin.  Initially, I thought of creating a sheet in Excel with 2 columns, one for 'current name' and the other 'new name'.  Then somehow looping and retrieving the names of the folders in Sharepoint and if a name matches a name in Excel 'current name', renaming the folder with the 'new name'.  If this or something similar will work, great, but again, I don't even know where to begin.

Is the syntax of the current folder the same for each folder? eg [last name], [first initial of first name] (current folder name).

Hi @Mike44 ,

You can use Power Automate to achieve this. As mentioned you can create an Excel Sheet with a table with columns CurrentFolderName and NewFolderName.

1. Create an Excel File with CurrentFolderName and NewFolderName
2. Use the list rows action and read the file
3. Use the Send an HTTP Action to SharePoint action inside an apply to each loop and rename the folders

I'm not 100% clear on what you're asking, but each current folder name is unique.  For example in our 'A' parent folder individual names could appear as such: Adams, A - andrews b - adkins mi -  and when renamed they would be: Adams, Aaron - Andrews, Bob - Adkins, Mike.  It's a mess, too many hands in the cookie jar.

I set everything up as you explained, at least I think, but it just seems to be in an endless loop.  I created a dummy test sheet and folders, only 4 folders, to be renamed and it's been running for 25 minutes.  Below is my flow.

Hi @Mike44 ,

Please ensure the data read from your excel sheet is correct.

1. Can you share the screenshot of the excel sheet data

2. Ensure that it only reads the specified number of rows that are mentioned in your excel.

3. Check the length of the Value array from your list rows action add it inside of Compose. (Using Length(Value)- the value here is dynamic expression which you will find from the flow) 

4. Check how many times is the flow iterating in the apply to each section(it should be same as the number of rows in the excel)

I assume you are using the same library name CopyFolders , which was my library name in the flow.

I did use your library name.  After making the correction, it's work perfectly.  Thank-you so much.  This is going to save hours of work.
