Error: The Value cannot be converted to a date or time value

Hello!

I have a power app that collects responses to a survey. It has a gallery. In that Gallery I have added Fluent UI controls taken with copy-paste from Microsoft Teams Power App, for each item of the gallery: text input, combobox and datepicker. They are visible depending on the type of question that is asked. Whenever someone takes the survey, I have a Submit button that patches the responses in a sharepoint list. I have set the controls to display the last submitted response when starting the app, but I get the following error: The Value 'Response2' cannot be converted to a date or time value. 'Response2' is the response for one of the questions that require a text input value. When I open the app, the values displayed in the controls are correct, corresponding to their questions, 'Response2' for Question 2 and the right date value for Question3 which has a datepicker control. 

I don't understand why I get that error. I tried to use Text(...) and DateValue(...) functions, but the error still persists.

Does anybody know how I can solve this?

These controls export the "Value" property, so it would be TextInput.Value, DatePicker.Value, etc. In general there are no problems with these controls.

I didn't understand. Response2 is a text or data field? If it's text, why the conversion to date?

Yes, Response2 is the value for a text field, but I get an error that says that it can't be converted to date time value. It is also confusing for me since that value doesn't need to be converted to date or time. The thing is, for that gallery, I have added Fluent UI controls, text, date and combobox, all for the same item, and they appear depending on what type of answer I expect for the question. There is a video by Reza Dorrani: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQqetH2QLyk where I took some of the ideas from. But I get that weird error and I thought it is because all of those controls are present for the same item and when patching, maybe the information is not correctly correlated. I found a way for the error to disappear but I'm not sure if that really resolved the issue: I put a condition on the Value property of the datepicker that if the type of answer I expect is of type date-time, only then I want to show a value for that control.

I resolved this by adding a condition on the Value property of the datepicker from the gallery to show the value only if the type of question requires a datepicker like this:

ThisItem.QuestionType = "Date",
DateValue(ThisItem.Response)
)
where QuestionType is a column from my sharepoint list where the questions are stored and Response is a column in a collection that I create where the responses from the user are stored.
Now I don't get the error.
