SubmitForm Not Saving Multiselect Combobox Entries

I have a multi-select combobox that is pulling filtered items from a secondary data source. When I go to save the selected items into the primary data source, it writes a blank value. I am currently using the SubmitForm() function to submit my data to a SharePoint List. My primary data source is DataSource1. Here are the properties of my combobox.: 

Combobox1.Items: Distinct(Filter(DataSource1,Column1.Value=Combobox2.Selected.Value), Column2)

DataCard1.Update: DataCardValue1.SelectedItems

I have been able to get this to successfully work with a single select combobox by entering the following in the Update: {Value:Combobox.Selected.Result}. 

Thoughts on how to get this to work with multi-select without having to use a Patch? If a Patch is necessary, how can I get the patch to submit to the newly created SP List item after the SubmitForm() runs?

Hi @B4rikuda ,

You have a Distinct filter on the Combo Box Items property, hence the .Result works, but will only show as you have found out, one item. The SelectedItems property will (as you know) pick up all the items selected in a multi-select Combo Box, but you cannot select this as the only option from the formation of the choices is .Result

Try  creating a second hidden ComboBox based on the Items in your current one (I will call it ComboBox2) then setting the Items of your current ComboBox to ComboBox2.SelectedItems.

See if your formula works then.

Hi @B4rikuda ,

The reason why you met this problem is that DataCardValue1.SelectedItems represent a column named "Result".

While your multiple choice field need a column named "Value".

So to update this field, you need to shape your result of "DataCardValue1.SelectedItems".

Try to set DataCard1.Update:

RenameColumns(DataCardValue1.SelectedItems,"Result","Value")

Usually, we use these functions to shape table: RenameColumns,AddColumns,DropColumns,AddColumns and ShowColumns.

Great video. I was stuck for three days with the issue described by the post owner. One thing to notice from the video is that to save the data as Text you have to write the Concat formula in the Update section and the syntax changed as of march 2022. I´ll post the example that worked for me right here.

Concat(yourComboBox.SelectedItems; Value; " / ")

remember that formula would go on the Update section of the control holding the combobox

B4rikuda Hi, Were you able to find a solution for this? I have a similar requirement where I have to save multiple items from a combobox to a lookup column on my SharePoint list. The combobox I have is filtered to show only distinct options.
