Power automate adaptive cards

Hi all,

I'm trying to create functionality where the user submits a form for approval in power apps. The form is submitted to the list and also a notification is sent to a group chat of approvers. 

I was using "Post adaptive card and wait for response" but am having trouble with 2 things:

1. Does the user submitting need to be in said chat? 

2. Struggling to figure out the syntax to get the responder data e.g., body('adaptivecard')?['responder']

so if I’ve got this right…the question is does the User who’s action prompts an adaptive card to be sent to a group chat of approvers need to be in that group chat? There should be no need for this as such, but would probably need some more details about the flow. But you could create the group chat with the account running the flow and then post the adaptive card. 

for the responder name, try:

outputs('Post_an_Adaptive_Card_to_a_Teams_channel_and_wait_for_a_response')?['body/responder']['displayname']

 (replace the text in the first single quotes with the name of your adaptive card step)

Thanks for your response Sam. The expression works 🙂

So my question for the first part is - if we imagine there is a MS teams group chat with managers in who can all approve holiday. John Smith who is not a manager submits - I have been getting an error saying John Smith isn't a member of the managers group so an adaptive card can't be submitted.

Is there some work around?

oh ok, I see why that’s a problem now. So it’s the same chat each time rather than a new chat for each approval. A little convoluted but you could have the flow trigger a child flow before the Adaptive Card is posted, and then have the child flow run in the context of an account that is in the group chat (like creating an account for the purposes of this automation and adding it to the chat) and then the child flow posts the adaptive card. If the card landing in the group chat is essential then that’s the only route I can think off the top of my head.

That does sound lengthy. Is there a way that I can be a part of all groups and each submission is almost sent as me...
