HTTP ERROR 401 on downloading file from Dataverse

Hello,

I am able to download a file from a Dataverse table with my account.

This is the link:

https://xxx.crm4.dynamics.com/api/data/v9.2/cre05_exzxceiros(xcxz)/cre05_anexodsf/$value

However, my users can't download the file.

They get the error:

HTTP ERROR 401

These are the security role permissions for this user:

@WebPortal , as you were able to download this...

Who is the owner of the record, what is the owner business unit and what is your business unit?

Hi @WebPortal

Take a remote session with your users and ask them to share screen, now you try to download the file from their machine.

  1. Open Developer Tools: Right-click on the webpage where the download link is located and select "Inspect" or press Ctrl+Shift+I (or Cmd+Option+I on Mac) to open the Developer Tools.

  2. Go to the Network Tab: In the Developer Tools window, navigate to the "Network" tab. This tab shows all network requests made by the webpage.

  3. Attempt to Download: Try to download the file again.

  4. Check for Errors: Look for the network request corresponding to the download in the list of network requests. The request will likely have a status of 401 (Unauthorized) if there is an issue with authorization.

  5. View Details: Click on the network request to view more details. Look for the "Response" tab or section, which will show the full HTTP response, including the status code (401) and any error messages.

  6. Check Headers: Check the request headers to see if there are any authentication headers (such as Authorization) being sent. Ensure that the correct authentication mechanism is being used and that the credentials are correct.

Mostly this can be because users may not have right privileges on the file itself.

If I have answered your question, please mark your post as Solved.

If you like my response or got a direction forward to proceed, please give it a Thumbs Up at least. Appreciate your Kudos. You can accept more than one post as a solution.

Hi All,

I am also having this same issue.

All users are having the 401 Error Issue, but it was working for me.

However today I also get the 401 Error.

If I copy & paste the hyperlink into Google Chrome, it works!

Also if I run my app in Google Chrome, the download also works.

I get the error when using Microsoft Edge.

Thanks.
