Hi everyone, for the recent issues on this, the engineering team is reviewing the problem.

After 10's of 10's of searches and hundreds of articles, post, phone calls to MS I got it working

by purchasing OneDrive for Business.  It's amazing that none of the articles, error messages ... even the power apps tech support never mentioned you can't use a personal onedrive.

Anyhow, it works only for using the get data, not from excel.

A silly little note would have saved me a week.

Try running Import data. Somehow running through this function, it helps to properly initialized the project import service. Once that is initialized you can proceed to use Import data from Excel.

The UI has changed but the issue persists.  I find that to fix this, click on Import Data and this will launch Power Query. This will initialize the connections required. Exist Power Query and return back to the menu and click on Import Data from Excel and this should fix it.
