Power Automate Fundamentals # 19: Usage of Addition Function in Power Automate
Introduction:
In Power Automate, at times we need to perform Addition arithmetic operations so that we can get easily desired result. As an example, let us see how to calculate total age of 2 persons with the help of Addition function.
Step 1:
Login to the required Power Apps environment using URL make.powerapps.com by providing username and password and click on Flows on the left-hand side as shown in the below figure.
Step 2:
After Step 1, Click on New Flow and select instant cloud flow and provide the trigger as Manually trigger a flow and click on Create as shown in the below figure.
Step 3:
After Step 2, Add a parallel branch and in one part name flow as Addition Function and take initialize variable action and provide step name it as Set First Person Age and then provide the inputs as in one side
Name : First Person Age
Type : Integer
Value : 30
as shown in the below figure.
Step 4:
After Step 3, in other side of parallel branch take initialize variable action and provide step name it as Set Second Person Age and then provide the inputs as in one side
Name : Second Person Age
Type : Integer
Value : 40
as shown in the below figure.
Step 5:
After Step 4, now take compose action and name it as Get Total Age of Two Persons and provide the following inputs as below with add function and it expects the following syntax
add(summand_1: number, summand_2: number)
and provide
add(variables('First Person Age'),variables('Second Person Age'))
and click on update/ok as shown in the below figure.
Step 6:
After Step 5, now test and run flow and observe result
as shown in the below figure.
Note:
Conclusion: In this way we can easily perform arithmetic operations like Addition to achieve simple requirement in Power Automate flow.
