Flow - Track expenses - Sum table column push to notification

New to Flow and playing with the 'Track Expenses' sheet.

I'm trying to find the sum of a column from the table so for example I can see the total thats been uploaded. This then pushed to the notification.

I tried adding the values together into an excel table then returning that fomula but it fails.

Any ideas?

Hi @JamieJ,

Could you please share a screenshot of your flow's configuration?

Do you use the "Track my expenses in an Excel sheet" template within your flow?

Further, could you please show a bit more about the 'Track Expenses' sheet that you mentioned?

I have created a 'Track Expenses' sheet on my OneDrive for Business folder and the data structure of it as below:

If you want to sum a column of the 'Track Expenses' sheet (I assume that you want to sum the Amount column of the 'Track Expenses' sheet), I have made a test on my side and please take a try with the following workaround:

  • Add a proper trigger, here I use Flow Button trigger.
  • Add a "Get rows" action, specify File Name and Table Name.
  • Add a Variables-> "Initialize variable" action, Name set to TotalAmount, Type set to Integer and Value set to empty.
  • Add a "Apply to each", input parameter set to output of "Get rows" action.
  • Within "Apply to each" action, add a "Increment variable" action, Name choose TotalAmount and Value set to following formula:
  • int(items('Apply_to_each')?['Amount'])
Under "Apply to each" action, add a "Send me an email notification" action, Body field set to TotalAmount variable.

The flow works successfully as below:18.JPG

Hi Kris,

This looks like it will work! are you able to extract it to a zip so I can take a look easily without having to replicate?

My data is set up the same as yours.

thanks!
