Generative Answers - Sharepoint as source - Authentication Issue

Hi

I have Microsoft Teams ONLY authentication turned on; however, I'm getting an error when trying to use Sharepoint as a source for a Generative Answer module.

If I turn on manual authentication, the error does not exist. However, I've been struggling to get manual authentication to work with Microsoft Teams. If I configure Manual Authentication following these guides:
Configure user authentication with Azure Active Directory - Power Virtual Agents | Microsoft Learn
Configure single sign-on for the Power Virtual Agents app in Teams - Power Virtual Agents | Microsof...
Configure single sign-on for the Power Virtual Agents app in Teams - Power Virtual Agents | Microsof...
The bot just constantly asks me to login, but doesn't provide the same "Login" button that the Bot Test in the Power Virtual Agents dashboard provides.

Additionally, Generative answer doesn't even want to query the Sharepoint site when using the bot on the demo site (where I can successfully authenticate). The bot just stops responding, it doesn't provide any error. I can get the generative answer module to work if I use a public website.

Please advise thoughts.

Side note, I should advise I'm unable to complete this step in Azure AD.

I figure though, for some single user testing, the admin consent is not required. It feels like I shouldn't be experiencing the issues I'm experiencing for simply not granting admin consent.

@HenryJammes I think Teams Only authentication still has issues accessing Sharepoint links when the bot is actually being used in Teams. When testing in the PVA test panel, I seem to be able to generative answers working most of the time, but when using the bot in teams, I can only get generative answers to work with a public website.

Is there further configuration that I'm missing for teams only authentication.

I am also having issue similar to data source, like I am not able to pass the website URL from power virtual agent bot conversation to data source to create generative answers to add the public website.

I have a scenario where i need to pass the website URL from power virtual agent bot after that I need to question to bot for the given website and bot should use the given URL to provide the response for end user. Please let me know how to get answers for the given website.

That's correct @brodie-sky.

To use a SharePoint or OneDrive for Business data source, you need to use the Manual / Azure Active Directory authentication with the appropriate application permissions as documented here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-virtual-agents/nlu-boost-node#connect-to-a-sharepoint-site-o...

Henry

The SharePoint or OneDrive for Business data source in Generative Answers uses the Microsoft Graph API.

Maybe try to see if you get different results from the Graph API?

Generative answers with Search and summarize - Power Virtual Agents | Microsoft Learn

Using the Graph Explorer, log in, do a POST on https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/search/query

In the body, use:

            "entityTypes": [

Hi @brodie-sky

We are also seeing the "The bot just constantly asks me to login, but doesn't provide the same "Login" button that the Bot Test in the Power Virtual Agents dashboard provides."

You seem to have got past this in your responses? If so can you please tell me how?

Thanks

@Drogon1 When using manual authentication, I'm still having an issue with the login button not appearing in Teams

So no, unfortunately, I have not solved it. I have been using "Only in Teams" authentication to get around the issue for now.

@brodie-sky Thanks for your reply! We see the same issue in "Only in Teams" Authentication. Did you make any alterations to the Sign-In topic?

@Drogon1 No alterations to the sign in topic were made

@Drogon1 I just received this from support

Hello Brodie,

Good day to you and hope you’re doing well.

Kindly help me to check in your Authentication that did you enter the Token exchange URL or not. If you entered it, please try to remove it, and publish your bot again. Then go back to your bot run and test again. After that, please let me know the result from your end.

If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Thank you for your time and look forward to your reply.

I removed the token exchange URL, and the login button did appear. However, I seem to be getting some error now. Screenshot here:

@HenryJammes I try this, and I get information from Sharepoint. No authentication errors.

I've setup manual authentication with PVA, but still it seems to struggle to get any information from Sharepoint. Now with manual authentication on, across the test environment and teams.
