How to work around this flow?

Hello All,

I would like to create a flow that enable me when I Upload a csv file to a sharepoint folder, it create an excel sheet formated as below for each employee

the csv file contains information about the employee

I'm afraid that's not going to work with Power Automate alone because there is no action to write data into a range (as opposed to a table).

thank you very much @schwibach  for the reply, What i was thinking to do is to parse data from csv file t json which i did that and after that I want to import data from Json to a sharepoint list then from sharepoint list to an excel template.

do you think this will work?  I haven't tried this as im stuck in the step of importing data from Json to Sharepoint and I dont know how to do it.

The step with the SharePoint list won't do you any good.

PowerAutomate cannot write anything into the yellow area next to employee name.
What PowerAutomate can do, is fill in that table below with Date etc.

Parsing the csv file will be a bit of a challenge at first, but if you have sample data to work with, the split functions and a couple of loops will do the trick.

what if I add another column (Employee Name) which repeat the employee name in each day in this cas will the power automate will be able to do my work, or is ther any other solutin that get the name and date and the other informatin from csv file  and create table for each employee as showed in the screen shoot?

You can simply not write into that area of the Excel file with PowerAutomate.

PowerAutomate can only write into tables, not into ranges.

thank you very much for reply @schwibach I have another idea, i will prepare a worksheet one sheet contains the template and desing and another sheet contians data, in the template sheet i will use vlookup or match& index function to get information from the data sheet, and the data sheet will be updated using powerautomate from a CSV file do you think this will work, i will try this and update you.

unfortunately this didn't work , if i have a table for each employee in a tables not in range is possible to update these tables from the csv file using power automate flow?

Yes, you can update rows and insert rows in tables in Excel using Power Automate.

You could then reference the second (hidden) table in the fields that you want to populate...

So, if you have a table with your Employee name and then reference it on your other sheet, that should work fine.

I would start by getting your csv content into a compose action and then start learning to parse it.

thank you for the link, I have followed this and now i have a flow that gets data from a csv file, and from their I dont know what to do , how to pars data from composs to excel table

ok, so you have a json there, not a csv (which is even better)

Now, create a Parse Json action and put in the contents of that compose action.

Also, create a schema from your sample data.

Then you can easily reference the data when you create new items in a table.

thank you for the advice, I pars json then add rows to atable but i get error Flow run timed out as it takes more than 9 mints! what could be the worng?

Does it add the rows correctly? 

I suggest you reduce the concurrency control of the loop to 1. Excel is not a good data source and not robust.

You probably have too many actions trying to write into the Excel sheet at the same time.

You could add a step Wait 5 seconds inside the loop after adding the row.

If the error goes away, you'll at least know that this is where it's coming from.

Can you take screenshots of the error?

How many rows are you inserting?

How many fail, how many succeed?

Is it always the same ones that fail?
