Problem moving file from one sharepoint site to another

Hi,

since mid of last week some of my flows do not work properly any more. We have time triggered flows that check if a new file is stored on a SharePoint site folder and then distributes them to other site folders plus sends out an email. That still works if the site folder is on the same site as original one, but not if it should move the file to another site. I could rewrite the flow to generate a new file and delete the one on the original location, but then need to check if the file already exists. This was much easier with the move file action. Does anyone see the same behavior or does anyone have a clue what might have changed last week ?

Here is the output of the error and a screenshot of the flow error:

Not sure why the site ID mismatch appears. If I create a flow to create a file instead of moving it, it does have the ability to access it.

Dear partner,

Is this issue intermediate?

Can you please reach out to support, this needs to be reported to SharePoint / PA team.

Did I answer your question? Please consider to mark my post as a solution to help others.

Regards,

Mohamed Sanuj Basheer

The issue is not intermediate. Seems that this happens since 31.6.
I opened a ticket on the service status of the admin console, but the reply was that there was no problem found.

Hi @Bobat42 ,

Please check that the account that you are using in flow has enough permission to other site. Can you access the other site with the account that you are using to build a flow?

Hello Ramiz,

the account used has admin rights. I can access the other site and can create a new file there using a flow.

Hi @Bobat42 ,

By looking at your attached image of flow, I think you have setup If another file is already there then fail the action. Please check that whether the same file is already present in the destination site or not.  Try changing it to Replace and test. Also check the destination site URL as well.
I have tested it on my end and flow is moving the file from one site to another.

Hello Ramiz,

thank you for the hint, but that did not solve the issue. However I got a step further. I recreated a test flow without any conditions as shown in the image here:

testflow.jpg

It actually moved the subfolders in the library plus the according files in those, but not the files I needed in the root of the library. I tried versions with subfolders yes and no and file identifier or name with extension. So if you could help with the correct entries here or send a screenshot of your flow it would be appreciated.

Strangely the flows worked for several months as they were and then suddenly stopped working last week.

Hi @Bobat42 ,

I didn't get the issue. Can you elaborate?
Are you moving folders or files? For files there is an action Move File and for folders there is a separate action Move Folder. Which one are you using?

Hello Rmaiz,

I want to move files and use the Move File action. (Datei verschieben in german) . The folder where the files initially appear looks like this:

Bobat42_0-1625574291005.png

After execution of my test flow as depicted above, all files (the word file Dies ist ein Test.docx and the pdf Dies ist ein Test.pdf) remain in the sharepoint library/folder, but all the subfolders and the files in those are moved to the other sharepoint site.

Sorry, I forgot. That is exactly the opposite of what I am trying to achieve.

Dear @Bobat42

Try this.

I used filter array to filter only files. There is a property called IsFolder that I am using. Filter array will filter all the files in Scan Upload folder and the include nested items property is set to No so the files inside the subfolders of Scan Upload folder wont count.
Hope this helps and works.

Hello Ramiz,

sorry but I am not able to reproduce that. I have no chance to choose the identifier of the array in the dynamic content for the move file:

Dateibezeichner.jpg

Not sure if this would help anyways. Since the files, that are not in a subfolder are not moved, your solution will only prevent that subfolders and files from the subfolders are moved.

Hi @Bobat42

This was a bit confusing for me as well. But let me show you how to select the identifier. First in the loop dont select the filter array body, instead select the Get file Properties one values. Then save the flow after saving in the loop output section change it to the Filter array body.

Save the flow first like this.

Ramiz_0-1625577552926.png

After saving change the output array to Filter Array Body and save the flow. Don't change the identifier. Close and open flow again and the identifier will be automatically changed to the filter array one.

Ramiz_2-1625577850133.png

This flow will move all the files to other site and skip the subfolders and subfolder files inside the Upload Scan folder.

Hello Ramiz,

thank you. I was able to reproduce it, however the error remains:

Failed to check the existence of the source object under "https://xxxxxxxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/office/Dies ist ein Test.pdf" due to the error "The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)".

The files are there but for some reason they will not be moved.

Hi @Bobat42 ,

I tested it and it worked fine. It moved all the files from one site to another. Can you share your flow and library structure?

Hello Ramiz,

sorry for being silent. I tried several things to make sure. I created a new very basic flow. I used to make sure a new library without any changes from scratch. Please let me know if that is sufficient for the library structure. Not sure how to share that though. Should I send a link?

Hi @Bobat42 ,

That's my library structure from where I am moving the files. My flow is only moving the files which are in Scan folder (Inventory report excel). All the files inside folder 1,2,3 will remain here.

Ramiz_0-1625820554852.png

Share the screen shot of your flow.

Hello Ramiz,

ok here is my original:

Groupfolder ori.jpgAgain my new testflow and the result:

Testflow3.jpg

errors.jpg

Here is what the target looks like before execution:

Target_before.jpg

And after:

Target_after2.jpgTarget_after1.jpg

I am executing the flow from a Group Site. Tested the same from an original Sharepoint site, there everything works as expected and perfect. So I am not sure if this got something to do whether it is executed from a Group or standard Sharepoint site. Right now I do not really care if the folders are copied, but generally it does not copy everything from the origin.

Hi @Bobat42,

You are using Move file action to move folder as well which I dont think that you should.
What I understood your requirement was to move all the files from one site to another that are present in a folder called  Scan Upload. Correct me if I am wrong.

Now If you want to move everything from one site to another including folders, then in your Get files(properties) action make Include Nested Items = No and then in your loop put an if condition whether the item is a folder or a file and then use the relevant action that is Move File and Move Folder.

The best way to make sure you know what's going on in the News & Announcements, to blogs you follow, or forums and galleries you're interested in is to subscribe! These subscriptions ensure you receive automated messages about the most recent posts and replies. Even better, there are multiple ways you can subscribe to content and boards in the community! (Please note: if you have created an AAD (Azure Active Directory) account you won't be able to receive e-mail notifications.)   Subscribing to a Category  When you're looking at the entire category, select from the Options drop down and choose Subscribe.     You can then choose to Subscribe to all of the boards or select only the boards you want to receive notifications. When you're satisfied with your choices, click Save.     Subscribing to a Topic You can also subscribe to a single topic by clicking Subscribe from the Options drop down menu, while you are viewing the topic or in the General board overview, respectively.     Subscribing to a Label Find the labels at the bottom left of a post. From a particular post with a label, click on the label to filter by that label. This opens a window containing a list of posts with the label you have selected. Click Subscribe.     Note: You can only subscribe to a label at the board level. If you subscribe to a label named 'Copilot' at board #1, it will not automatically subscribe you to an identically named label at board #2. You will have to subscribe twice, once at each board.   Bookmarks Just like you can subscribe to topics and categories, you can also bookmark topics and boards from the same menus! Simply go to the Topic Options drop down menu to bookmark a topic or the Options drop down to bookmark a board. The difference between subscribing and bookmarking is that subscriptions provide you with notifications, whereas bookmarks provide you a static way of easily accessing your favorite boards from the My subscriptions area.   Managing & Viewing Your Subscriptions & Bookmarks To manage your subscriptions, click on your avatar and select My subscriptions from the drop-down menu.     From the Subscriptions & Notifications tab, you can manage your subscriptions, including your e-mail subscription options, your bookmarks, your notification settings, and your email notification format.     You can see a list of all your subscriptions and bookmarks and choose which ones to delete, either individually or in bulk, by checking multiple boxes.     A Note on Following Friends on Mobile Adding someone as a friend or selecting Follow in the mobile view does not allow you to subscribe to their activity feed. You will merely be able to see your friends’ biography, other personal information, or online status, and send messages more quickly by choosing who to send the message to from a list, as opposed to having to search by username.
