Pulling a list of power automate flows from an environment (or from a user), to powerapps in a gallery

Hey all,

I'm not having luck securing the solutions to group my flows together (my previous post).

I have an idea of pulling a list of flows that exist on an environment (or by user, that is fine) to a gallery, and then allow the user (me) to then write to the gallery describing the nature of the flow, the project it is involved, etc. Basically, interactive documentation for an individual flow.

I need the list of flows to come from powerapps and there exists a connector "PowerAutomateManagement" that allows commands like ListFlowsInEnvironmentV2 , but I keep getting an error that I don't have the ability to write flows in the environment and it won't pull the list of all flows to the gallery.

This is false, I make flows all the time with this account (the account that made the flows I am trying to pull, and the account that is currently making this powerapp is actually the same).

Also, the actions for the documentation of this powerapps plugin, doesn't match what is available to me:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/flowmanagement/

For example, I don't have access to "List Flows as Admin (V2) ", I can only do "ListFlowsInEnvironmentV2".

My syntax is PowerAutomateManagement.ListFlowsInEnvironmentV2("MyEnvironment")

The specific output is "You are not permitted to make flows in this MyEnvironment", despite this account being the admin account that created the flows in MyEnvironment.

Does anyone know how to get this connector to recognize I am an admin, that I have read/write permission for flows, and/or a way to automatically pull a list of all flows into a gallery in powerapps?

Hello,

You can try the url in a simple browser first:

VNO_0-1677163962274.png

Of course you have to put the correct env ID.

When I do that I get all flow of that env.  Not only desktop flow but cloud flow also.  JSON contains flow definition (category, recurrence, owner ID, recurrence (if any),...) and also flow actions.

Hello,

did you try this post:

Get Power Automate Desktop runs details • Tomasz Poszytek, Business Applications MVP

So use HTTP call instead of flow (admin or not) actions.

Hello VNO,

I want to say thank you for taking the time to respond to my question, It's really got me stumped.

Sadly, I do not think the post you provide will address my question and help me reach my goal.

When I tried to do the HTTP call, it results in a return of an invalid JSON and I can't parse it.

When I tried to connect to dataverse in powerbi directly, I have empty tables. After further reading, I see the author of the post provided mentioned this: "No, flowsessions only contain data from Desktop flows. Cloud flows are not stored in Dataverse unfortunately. They are stored somewhere outside, in some Azure databases. I don’t know deep details about it."

This is my problem, these are cloud flows that aren't on a desktop. I verifed this by looking at flowsession and sure enough, it is an empty table (albeit it has columns, just no rows).

My goal is to either:

1: Configure the way solutions work so that only the creater of the flow can see the flows inside of a solution, and then I can group my flows on a per-project basis.

2: Pull a list of all flows from the environment (or by user, that's fine) in powerapps in a gallery. The ideal outcome would be a powerapp I can use, that would dynamically pull a list of all flows. The user (me, and a team member) could click on a flow or a project or even a SQL view or whatever, and see the dependencies, that way we can easily identify which component is tied to what project, and what changing a component will impact.

Paper documentation just doesn't seem to be cutting it with turn-over, ever-changing projects, ever growing projects, etc.

Hey VNO,

Thanks so much!

I was able to replicate this and I adjusted my HTTP request to reflect this URL and it does my cloud flows in it.

I'm trying to store the list of flows in an array in flow and then save it in sharepoint as a row and then use that row as a gallery in power automate.

I am encountering an issue: I have a parse JSON and it seems to function.

However, when appending to my array, it says that the body value of the JSON is null, which isn't null.

When looking at the JSON, I don't see any null values for the "name" property.

Any suggestions?

Hum,

my understanding is that the apply to each does not get array as input.  In you expression it seems ['body'] is not there.  Try to remove it (?)

VNO_0-1677169080951.png

-> if you look at the structure of the json return by http call, the response is directly 'value' and not 'body/value'

I can't seem to remove it. When I select "name" in my "append to array" it automatically makes a loop with "Value" as the "output from previous step". I have no idea where "body" is coming from or how to remove it, I'll look into it.

I solved it just now.

For some reason, it automatically adds ['body'] when it did the loop as the output from previous step.

I just removed the variable "output from previous step" and wrote an expression of @{body('parse_JSON')['value']} and it worked.

Thanks so much for the help!

Hey VNO,

Apologies for another reply.

I can only see flows that were added to the dataverse for a solution, it seems. For instance, I have a flow, let's called it Flow123 that exists on MyEnvironment . When I put that URL in, I can see flows that are in the dataverse for everyone in MyEnvironment, even if I did not create the flow or have access to it. That is ok.

However, I am unable to find Flow123 that exists on MyEnvironment. I can confirm that Flow123 exists on MyEnvironment and I am the owner of that flow. It is an instant cloud flow.

I can see desktop cloud flows and dataverse flows, but not cloud based flows only.

Does that make sense?

Thanks so much!

Hello,

not sure I understand your question.

Just: if you have different environment you have different url.  So My Environment has a different url than another TEST/QA/Prod environment.
You find this url in the admin:

VNO_0-1677222772151.pngVNO_1-1677222867888.png

And if you don't see your environment in the list, just change the url and put the environment ID after environment/

VNO_2-1677222994010.png

You also have 2 connectors:

VNO_3-1677223079700.png

The first one gives all environments you (the user you use) have access to.  The second the environments you are admin.

After that, when I use the api url I see all existing flows.

Now, check the documentation:
