Approval flow runs subsequent flows twice

CONTEXT

I have a flow that requires an approval by two separate managers (the persons manager and this other specific person) for an expense to be approved. I need them both to approve for it to be approved so have it set as 'Everyone must approved' in the start and wait for approval. 

Regardless of approval or rejection, i have it so my excel file that stores all the information adds a row with the results of the form (filled out by employee) and if it was approved or rejected with comments. It also sends an email to the employee letting them know its been approved or rejected with comments. See flow below.

Everything describes works as intended except:

PROBLEM

If both people approve or Person A approves but person B rejects two rows are added to the excel file (which are 100% identical except for the comments part). Likewise, two emails are sent that are  identical except for the approver/rejecter and the comment.

If the first response is a rejection (which thus means the expense is rejected) everything runs as extended but its just if there is a response from both managers (approve/approve or approve then reject).

I assume/know the problem is coming from the purple things because it is outputting the answers of Person A and B and so it is running the flows for each resulting in two excel rows and two notifications.

Is it possible to just make one excel (and one notification) with one of the approval comments if its an approval and if its rejected, not send the comments of the approval and just send the comments (and make one excel row) with the rejection and its comment.

If any clarification of the problem is required just lmk - i am very aware of the issue but don't know how to articulate it

The problem is occurring because the outputs you're using for email and the compose actions are from the response array, which is why the "Apply to each" loop is enclosing the whole thing.

To fix it you can either have a string variable and append the comments to it or use the response summary - which is concatenated string output of the response array and have all data properly formatted.

At the end of the day, you need to make sure your Excel and Mail actions are out of Array.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I am new to power automate so not an expert. 

I tried to ammend to a string variable but still received the double notification. In fact this time two emails were sent where one said approved and one said rejected - even tho both users accepted. 

How do i do what you said correctly - i can only put the response summary as i need comments and that does not provide the comments.

Hi @Power_Flow_Your ,

You just need to drag the excel and email actions out of your "Apply to each" loop, and you can use the output of ApprovalVar in your email or excel.

Also, as you're already appending the comments using append action, you can remove the "Set variable" action.
