Create Multiple folders in a new folder. How to ignore subfolders

Hi, I am new to Power Automate.

I have a flow that  i want to create a folder structure when a new folder is created.

So my starting folder is Documents Projects.

If I create Folder1 I want to create several folders. For instance Projects Folder1 Dev1.

however, when i try to do this, the folder is created and then the flow runs again and creates Projects Dev1

I cannot see a way to make my flow ignore subfolders that are created by the flow.

Can anyone help?

Hi @Wibbley

Thank you for posting.

According to your query, you want to create serval folder when a main folder created.

Unfortunately, there is no type of flow can trigger a new folder creation. This by design. For detailed trigger types, you can refer below documentation.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/triggers-introduction#:~:text=A%20trigger%20is%20the....)

Meanwhile, what your folder structure looks like? According to your description, I imagine as below:

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Anna

I have a solution that works perfectly. Sorry Anna but you were wrong on this one. there is a Create folder action and it has been available since the last update which I think was 2019.

I created a folder called 1234 test project.

Using the correct trigger it was easy to do but care has to be taken building the actions correctly to prevent the loopback. I wanted to be able to create a Project or Job folder that has a project number. The first folder carries the project name 'test project' and the sub folders carry the project number. I find this would be very useful if you want to share specific sub folders and not the whole project folder to users as they can easily identify which folder is which if they have access to parts of multiple projects.

I am unable to add any pictures or images to the posts here for some reason so I can't display the solution. If you can tell me why adding any picture causes an html error I can show a great example.

Hi @Wibbley

Thank you very much for your reply.

I'm not sure why you can't upload picture to this support website. It might be caused by server side.

Seems you would like to create subfolder using number in order as foldername. If that's the case, it's impossible to achieve it because there is no related formula available so far. But as a workaround, we can number files by date using 'utcnow()'.

Hope the content above may help you.

Thanks

Anna
