Create new folder on sharepoint every time new email arrives to shared mailbox and save attachments

Hi All,

I am trying to create a Flow that should create a new folder on SharePoint every time an email with an attachment arrives and should also save those attachments in a new folder. The Flow is currently working fine until the step where it should save the

attachments. I am getting below error message.

I am not sure where I am making the mistake.

Here's how the Flow looks like:

Create new folder action is working fine, I am getting a new folder on Sharepoint named the same as an email subject that arrived, but then create file action is failing.

Any ideas here?

Take a look at your Trigger.  You've got include attachments set to 'no'.  That's the default setting to save on bandwidth when working with an email.  But if you want to save the attachment then you need the actual attachments to get the content to save. I believe that's why you are getting a null value error when you try to use the content.  There is no content because it didn't retrieve the attachments with the email in the trigger.

Hi @Pstork1,

I just changed it to "Include attachments" - "Yes" and run the test once more but still got the below error... Plus I noticed that when I marked it as "Yes" the Flow is not getting triggered when an email without attachment arrives.

What I am trying to have here is a Flow triggered when an email with subject "reimbursement" arrives and then based on whether it has an attachment or not perform different sets of actions.

If we have attachment all is good and the flow should:

1. notify the sender that submission is successful

2. create a new folder on SharePoint

3. store attachments in the newly created folder

If there is no attachment:

1. send an email to the sender that submission is unsuccessful because we are missing attachments

First make sure that you set 'Include Attachments' to 'yes' and not 'Only with Attachments'.  Setting Only with Attachments to Yes will cause the trigger to only trigger on emails with attachments.  

Also, for troubleshooting purposes could you show the JSON output from the run on an email that should have an attachment?

I've just closed the browser - opened Power Automate once more and re-run the tests. What I got now is:

When an email has an attachment - all is working fine - it's performing all actions correctly

When an email is missing an attachment - the Flow is this time getting triggered, but at condition-stage, it's not recognizing that the attachment is missing:

Previously it was working with this condition and was filtering all emails correctly:

Do you have any idea why it stopped working after the change?

For your condition it should be set to has attachments equals true, not null. Like this.

Now, after the changes, I am getting the reverse situation, even though the email had an attachment it went to "If no" branch:

Everything looks correct.  Make sure you have saved the newly edited flow and then wait 5 minutes before testing.  Given the screenshot you supplied the condition should evaluate to true.  I can only assume its working off an older version of the condition.  Give it some time and try again.

I just checked the Flow again and unfortunately, the problem remains, whether the email has an attachment or not it's always going to "if no" branch:

Maybe there is a problem with how I type true in expression?

I am just putting there 'true', should I add something?

The best way to add true is using the Expression editor tab.  There is a function that evaluates to true.  Otherwise a string will usually work, but its case sensitive.  If you look at my screenshot you can see that I entered it using the Expression Tab.

Same for me, I used Expression tab and typed there 'true'...I am kind of lost now why it's not working....

Can you post a screenshot of your trigger.  Something isn't set right.  The logic does work in my tests.

That's what I wanted to check.  If include attachments gets set to no then your condition won't work.  At this point I'm not sure what is causing your issue.  I'm running pretty much the same flow as a POC and it works fine for me.  If you want to export your flow and send me a copy I'll take a look and see if I can figure out what is wrong.  Otherwise I don't know what else to suggest.
