Hello,

I want to filter based on file name has the sequence X and then 5 digits e.g. "X07960".  How can i achieve this?    I want to be able to put this in the when a file is created or modified (properites only) Trigger Conditions so i only get charged when the "X" number is found.

Thanks that works 🙂  How do I extract the same text from the flow? 

I'm trying to break down what you've done.  it looks like your looking for X and then testing the 5 digitals after to see if its a number between 0 and 9 and return true or false? I guess the purpose of "and" on the 3rd line is to make test all expressions are true.    I don't understand what the @Anonymous is doing, what does it return?

The if is just a wrapper for all of the equals expressions ALL of which must be true for the if statement to evaluate to True. The trigger condition is expecting a value of only True, or false in order to determine if it should execute.

If you look at the very end of the expression there is a line which is just:

  ), true, false

That is the end of the if expression. Return true if all of the above conditions match, false if not.

As for getting the same text in the flow, the condition has already matched the filename according to your parameters. So you can just pull the filename from the dynamic content.

Which is just triggerOutputs()?['body/{Name}']

The file name might called "invoice bf10000 order X07960.pdf".  I want to extract just the X07960 to insert it into a different column.

In which case, the expression I wrote for you will not work. I misunderstood. The filename could contain X#####, but the expression I gave checks the first 5 characters for X#####.

Trying to think if it is possible, I am sure it is, but it's a bit tricky.

I've googled around and the ways I can see is using a reg ex connector from plumsail SP.   Not too sure on using external (not sure how reliable/cost ect...) , seams I've hit a limit on Power Automate text string manipulation.  In other languages, you can get the position of a set of type of characters and then use sub string to extract but cant see a way to do this using standard connectors.

and it would be incredibly simple to do with a regex. But you want to do it in the trigger action and I am wondering how to do it there. I think I know a way, but can't look at it right now.
