Power automate - Email new sharepoint column sum/total on new entry

Hi all,

I have a flow that sends an email on new entry to a sharepoint list.

The email confirms details of the new entry i.e. who submitted it, time and amount added etc.

However I want to also include in this email what the new total is of a set column.

It feels like there should be an easy way of doing this but I cant find it?

Thank you

Hi @Terryghill

SharePoint REST API doesn't support aggregate SUM function to find the totals.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/sp-add-ins/use-odata-query-operations-in-sharepoint-...

You need to retrieve all the records, iterate each record and calculate manually to find the total.

If you have too many records another option is add a new column called 'Total' in SharePoint. When ever a new record is added find the last created record by created on date via ODATA filter. Retrieve the column value then add the current column value from the newly created record. Finally update the total value to newly created record. Finally send email which contains the total value.

Thanks

Hi @Terryghill

What is set column means? Are you looking to get the total of a particular column of all the row records?

Hi,

Yes that’s correct, I want to show the total score for a column.

For example
Column A shows numbers of steps completed. I want to be able to add to the email the total number of steps that everyone has taken.
