Redirecting Email for business hours

Hey everyone,

I'm fairly new to flow - but I am trying to redirect an email to a shared mailbox based on business hours.

I am having problems parsing out hour the hour of the day.  Essentially, I am currently able to check the shared mailbox, if weekday is mon - fri, send do a second condition that checks the hour of the day.

pseudo code is like this

checkmail()

if(day is mon - fri)

    if(hour is 7am - 5pm)

        forward mail to business hours mailbox

    else

      forward mail to after hours mailbox

else

    forward mail to after hours mailbox.

I am struggling with figuring out if the current hour of day is less than 7 or greater than 17 (5pm).  What is the best way to do this?

Hello @stephenmbell 

You can use Date Actions to work with time and dates, and do something like:

1) Get the current time and convert it to your time zone: call utcNow().

2) Get the Hour from the converted time.

3) Get the DayOfWeek from the converted time (it will return 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 according to the day).

4) Check the conditions you mentioned.

@fchopo  - thanks for the reply. 

I am trying to re-create what you posted and I don't know what I am doing wrong?  When I add the 'Convert Time Zone' - I don't get any option for dynamic content / expressions.  Therefore, I can't get the utcNow() added

in this field?  What am I missing?  I've never used manually trigger before.

Really weird... When you place your mose inside the base time field, the dynamic content pop-up window should appear.

 Which browser are you using?

Latest version of Chrome.  

I will try some others.

Strange.  It seemed to only work if my browser was full screen.  Tried Firefox and Chrome both.

Here's what I build - to mirror what your image showed: 

When this is triggered I get an error.  Hour seems to output 2020-04-07T21:47:00.0000000.

Furthermore - here's the error:

Makes sense - the hour variable is returning a string, and I am comparing it to an integer.  I then try to wrap the hour variable in an int(variables('Hour')) function call and I get another error.  Because Hour seems to output 2020-04-07T21:47:00.0000000.  what I want this to return is 21.

Hi @stephenmbell,

The error is caused by the compare format is not the same, you could initialize an array variable to store number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Then change the Hour and Day variables to an integer, for example:

Hello @stephenmbell 

Sorry, as @v-litu-msft suggests, we have to convert Hour and Day variables to integerm and then compare values (in the case of Day, we can compare this value with less than or equals 5). Apart from that, I used wrong values in the if control action. 

So I recreated and tested the following flow, and it is working:
