Unable to change recurrence frequency value for SP when an item or file is modified

I have set up an automated flow to trigger on "when an item or file is modified" in sharepoint. Once I created the flow, I wanted to change the Recurrence interval which in currently 5 minutes to 30 minutes.

When I change it manually from 5 to 30 minutes, upon saving it immediately changes back to 5 min.

Being unable to change for an existing flow, I tested if the 30 minutes of recurrence frequency can still happen if I create a flow from scratch with 30 minutes baked-in from start. To my surprise, it changes back to 5 min upon saving even though I created with 30 minutes of interval. Even with this, this does not get saved , it changes back to 5 min upon saving.

Why this is happening and how can I overcome it. I want the SP trigger to look for sharepoint changes every 30 min instead of 5 min.

Have you tried changing it but leaving the Start Time blank?

I'm only testing to see if the timezone difference is somehow confusing the flow. I really don't think it should be a problem because 10:30AM in "Z" UTC Timezone has already passed.

But I don't like how recurrence let's you select a timezone, but then gives an example in "Z" utc timezone. Those two things conflict.

I don't know if it is the problem, but it is just something I would test first.

Thanks @wskinnermctc  so I tried this with the hope that it lets me do what I intended to; unfortunately it changes back to 5 min upon saving. Just because the checking happens every 5 min, it is triggering subsequent action and it is badly affecting the power bi capacity resource, This is really bad. In fact, it does not take any other frequency other than minutes; changing to 1 Hour (as opposed to 30 minutes) reverts back to 5 minutes.

You've reached the extent of my knowledge of the issue. The interval settings feature is new on Co-Pilot, so it is hard to tell if it is a bug or setting. In Classic editor, you couldn't change the interval at all.

I literally just tested it, and I can't edit mine either. Mine is set to 1 Minute due to the license. I tried changing it to different days, minutes, hours, and it always returned back to 1 Minute. Even tried it on other triggers like When an Item is Created.

Interestingly when I first add the When an Item is Created, it is set to 3 minutes by default. Then when I save it goes down to 1 Minute.

Personally, I would set the flow on a schedule and work around whatever you need to do with that item that was created. Since you are dealing with updating other data, like I want to know when my dataflow will be busy or something if it could slow other things down.

I guess if it was a stand alone thing, I'd try something like you have. But also I really don't know what you are trying to accomplish, so you might have it the best way possible if this interval thing works.

But I can confirm that mine is unable to change intervals as well, so at least you know it isn't just you. It is either a setting on the O365 permissions account by your IT. Like they have a user account property like (can user change intervals true/false) and have it all set to false.

Or Co-Pilot strikes again with not working as intended.

Thanks.  Beside this issue, is there any way for me to revert back to classic PA interface rather than is new interface. The classic PA UI was far better than the new one. I don't know if there is a way to go back to that.

Absolutely, you click the three dots for options over by the Flow Checker and test Button. Then Switch to Classic Designer.

Many thanks @wskinnermctc  much appreciated !!!. I will leave the thread open for now.

I concur - same issue with me (can't change the interval or frequency). I'd put it down to another bug (one of many) in the new designer. Another option is to just leave it as it is, and add a Delay after the trigger so it doesn't do anything with the file/item straight away. I've been going back to the Classic designer for all my flows as too many small issues with the new designer.

This flow already has delay baked-in but it does not help. With the delay the flow still checks for change every 5 min but queue up follow-up actions to take place each 30 min. But I want to find a way to manipulate the recurrence interval so that the subsequent actions don't have unintended reactions elsewhere (too many frequent refresh requests is currently messing with power bi capacity resource). I believe this manipulation can be done in Azure Logic App but not in PA?

I have the same problem. Can't change the frequency without it reverting back to 5 minutes automatically. Very annoying as this means I'm getting constant emails.

Same problem here

What's the point to allow us control on how often it checks if it can't be changed?

I was hoping to find a solution but is seems like it's one of the numerous bugs the new UI is riddled with.

Did you end up finding a solution for this? Mine is stuck at 3 minutes so it tries to refresh my dataset in Power BI every 3 minutes and I can only refresh 8 times a day and that is done before I even get to work in the morning.

This is the dumbest thing. Microsoft always makes things difficult. I cannot adjust it, and when I do it goes back to the 5 minutes. What is the purpose of allowing us to choose when it does not work?

I'd go back to the old/previous interface (putting the switch at the top right called "New Designer" to off). If I'm remembering properly, it works there.

Currently I find the new designer have too much issues to be worth using.

I am experiencing the same thing with the trigger "when a file is created or modified (properties only). No matter what I do it defaults back to 1 min. 😞

The best way to make sure you know what's going on in the News & Announcements, to blogs you follow, or forums and galleries you're interested in is to subscribe! These subscriptions ensure you receive automated messages about the most recent posts and replies. Even better, there are multiple ways you can subscribe to content and boards in the community! (Please note: if you have created an AAD (Azure Active Directory) account you won't be able to receive e-mail notifications.)   Subscribing to a Category  When you're looking at the entire category, select from the Options drop down and choose Subscribe.     You can then choose to Subscribe to all of the boards or select only the boards you want to receive notifications. When you're satisfied with your choices, click Save.     Subscribing to a Topic You can also subscribe to a single topic by clicking Subscribe from the Options drop down menu, while you are viewing the topic or in the General board overview, respectively.     Subscribing to a Label Find the labels at the bottom left of a post. From a particular post with a label, click on the label to filter by that label. This opens a window containing a list of posts with the label you have selected. Click Subscribe.     Note: You can only subscribe to a label at the board level. If you subscribe to a label named 'Copilot' at board #1, it will not automatically subscribe you to an identically named label at board #2. You will have to subscribe twice, once at each board.   Bookmarks Just like you can subscribe to topics and categories, you can also bookmark topics and boards from the same menus! Simply go to the Topic Options drop down menu to bookmark a topic or the Options drop down to bookmark a board. The difference between subscribing and bookmarking is that subscriptions provide you with notifications, whereas bookmarks provide you a static way of easily accessing your favorite boards from the My subscriptions area.   Managing & Viewing Your Subscriptions & Bookmarks To manage your subscriptions, click on your avatar and select My subscriptions from the drop-down menu.     From the Subscriptions & Notifications tab, you can manage your subscriptions, including your e-mail subscription options, your bookmarks, your notification settings, and your email notification format.     You can see a list of all your subscriptions and bookmarks and choose which ones to delete, either individually or in bulk, by checking multiple boxes.     A Note on Following Friends on Mobile Adding someone as a friend or selecting Follow in the mobile view does not allow you to subscribe to their activity feed. You will merely be able to see your friends’ biography, other personal information, or online status, and send messages more quickly by choosing who to send the message to from a list, as opposed to having to search by username.
