Creating/Updating multiple forms into one sharepoint list

I am struggling with getting these expressions correct in order to push data from multiple forms into one item in a sharepoint list. I went this route because I wanted to create a user-friendly layout on a form that is going to contain a lot of data.

The top form is called HeaderForm

The bottom left is called ChoiceForm

The bottom right is called SectorForm.

On each form, on the OnSuccess property, I have a SubmitForm() Expression that looks like this:

SubmitForm(ChoicesForm);
ResetForm(Self); RequestHide()

I added this expression in SharepointIntegration OnSave, but it's not working correctly.

If(
    FormMode.New,
    Patch(
        'Work progress tracking',
        Defaults('Work progress tracking'),
        ChoicesForm.Updates,
        HeaderForm.Updates,
        'Sector Form'.Updates
    ),
    If(
        FormMode.Edit,
        Patch(
            'Work progress tracking',
            {ID: SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID},
            ChoicesForm.Updates,
            HeaderForm.Updates,
            'Sector Form'.Updates
        )
    )
)
;
RequestHide()

The behavior right now is when I create a new item, it works. When I am trying to edit an existing item and select save, it creates a new item with the changes. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!

@v-xiaochen-msft This expression makes a lot of sense. Yesterday after I posted I ended up trying this expression and it is working well so far. I am going to test more today and see how it does. Thank you!

Patch(
    'Work progress tracking',
    If(transType = "Create",
        Defaults('Work progress tracking'),
        {ID: SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID}
    ),
    ChoicesForm.Updates,
    HeaderForm.Updates,
    'Sector Form'.Updates
); RequestHide()

Also tried this and it doesn't work. I tried it on sharepointintegration.onsave and everything else stayed the same. I also tried it and deleted the the submitform() on the onsuccess properties. Patch(
'Work progress tracking',
If(FormMode.New,
Defaults('Work progress tracking'),
{ID: SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID}
),
ChoicesForm.Updates,
HeaderForm.Updates,
'Sector Form'.Updates
)

I feel like I should also mention that when I added each patch function individually, they worked as expected. For example, this one updated the item, but it didn't create a new item.

Patch(
            'Work progress tracking',
            {ID: SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID},
            ChoicesForm.Updates,
            HeaderForm.Updates,
            'Sector Form'.Updates
        )

Hi @ksullivan2 ,

Please try this

If(
    FormMode.New,
    Patch(
        'Work progress tracking',
        Defaults('Work progress tracking'),
        ChoicesForm.Updates,
        HeaderForm.Updates,
        'Sector Form'.Updates
    ),
    If(
        FormMode.Edit,
        Patch(
            'Work progress tracking',
            LookUp('Work progress tracking',ID=SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID),

            ChoicesForm.Updates,
            HeaderForm.Updates,
            'Sector Form'.Updates
        )
    )
)
