How to fix the modern combo box visible value? After making a change in editable grid gallery, some cells show the "input text placeholder" text rather than the "default selected item" value

I have created an editable grid galley with a modern combo box. My data source is Dataverse and the combo box is a table I created in Dataverse.

When I make any changes in any row in the gallery and save the changes (including changeing a value of a cell and pressing save or deleting a row. The column instead of showing the defaultselected items shows the InputTextPlaceHolder. Back in the Dataverse table, everything seems to be fine. Only on the power app gallery I experience this issue. Does anyone know how I can solve this issue?

These are a few more questions:

1.What is the data source for your gallery and Combo Box?

2.Where does "ThisItem.Divisions" come from?

3.Does your Combo Box allow multiple selections?

I assume that you use the same data source and your Combo Box is single-select, in which case you can try the following.

1)My DataSource and the choice type column

2)For the properties of Combo Box in my Gallery:

Items:Choices('Choice Test')
DefaultSelectedItems:[ThisItem.ChoiceColumn]
OnChange:Patch(Datasource,ThisItem,{ChoiceColumn:ComboBox.Selected.Value})

Thanks for your message. Here are the answers to your questions:

1- What is the data source for your gallery and Combo Box? Dataverse. The choices are also a table in Dataverse  that I defined when I created a multichoice table in Dataverse - called : 'Signify Divisions'

2- Where does "ThisItem.Divisions" come from? It is the choice column in my main Dataverse table.

3- Does your Combo Box allow multiple selections? Yes

Do you want to update the value of the option in Gallery to the data source? Everything worked fine in my tests, maybe you can show me what the error is?

And can you explain to me what 'main Dataverse table' is, does it mean you are using multiple tables? Is your Choice table like the one I gave?

Thanks for taking the time and thinking through this issue with me. 

I built my editable gallery in Power App based on the video of Power Apps Editable Table using Gallery in Dataverse for Teams   by Reza Dorrani. The difference is that my power app is not embedded in Microsoft Team.

My data source is a dataverse table:

Both FiveFrontierStrategy and Divisions columns are choice columns. The FiveFrotierStrategy is single select and the Divisions is multi select. For each of them I created a table inside the choice column for the choices:

In Power App for the gallery, I have the following info for each of these columns:

Once the changes are made to the editable galley, a hidden button gets selected and the changes are collected in a collection and then by pressing save patches to the Dataverse table. Any change or delete and filter that reloads the gallery changes the default selected values in these two columns to the text of InputTextPlaceholder but not in a consistent way.

Hi @MandanaDorrer ,

1)If you use Collection as your gallery's data source, you can't save the contents of the collection directly to the Choice column in the Dataverse Table, which is a complicated conversion, so I recommend that you update the options directly to the Dataverse Table instead of storing it in the Collection first.

Set the On Change of Combo Box:

Patch(DataverseTable, LookUp(DataverseTable,ThisItem.'New table'='New table'),{Choicecolumn:ComboBox.SelectedItems.Value})

I assume that your collection is created according to Dataverse Table, so I look through a column to find the record to update. 'New Table' is my column name, you need to use your own column name.

2)If you are using Dataverse Table as the Items of Gallery, please try this:

Patch(Datasource,ThisItem,{ChoiceColumn:ComboBox.SelectedItems.Value})
