Overwriting SharePoint Excel data source breaks connection

When using an Excel file stored in a SharePoint library as a Power App data source, the App connection breaks if I overwrite the Excel file.  BUT, when I do the same thing in Power BI, the connection stays in tact and the report simply updates too.  Any suggestions/alternatives so the Power App connection won't break? 

(I don't want to store the Excel file on OneDrive using the old connector because the App is shared across multiple users who will be accessing the App at the same time)
