Dear all,

For a medical app, i need to upload multiple files like Xray, ECG etc for a patient. Since Sharepoint does not support multiple attachments column for single record, i want them to upload the image files to document library and also put the link in sharepoint list under their columns. Kindly please assist as i have never used attachment controls.

Just to be clear, we are talking about attachments now as they are a completely different subject to files stored in the Document Library.

Firstly, you do not need a Patch to store attachments - you can just use SubmitForm(), however if you attach files to an Attachment Control in a form, there is only one way of Patching it - I am assuming you have selected the item from a gallery here

Patch(
   ListName,
   {ID:GalleryName.Selected.ID},
   FormName.Updates
)

As for viewing - make a gallery with the Items (again using the ID logic above)

LookUp(
   YourListName,
   ID=GalleryName.Selected.ID
).Attachments

Then put an Image Control in the gallery with the Image property

ThisItem.Value

and then if you want to open it, put this on the OnSelect of the Image

Launch(ThisItem.AbsoluteUri)

Why don't you simply put multiple file on the attachment field? What you are asking is quite complex and involves multiple file conversion using JSON and a Flow. If you have not used attachment controls before, I would not recommend you go on this journey. You can view and open attachments from a gallery - I have a blog on this if this assists.

Okay, i can use one attachment control to upload multiple files. But how do i link it to the patient id, when do opeations like Search, Edit etc if we are not mapping the images to the specific paitent id... i am running out of idea.. pls let me know if you could visualize my situation and this could be done better on any other way with the gallery etc.

When you attach a file to a record, it is automatically "linked" - it belongs to the record. You simply find the patient record and then you can view the attachments as per the notes in my blog.

Thank you. It helped me to upload the attachments into document library.

I have a created link for the file and then created a field in SharePoint list with hyperlink type and saving in it.

Now, this method helps to save last link generated and everytime when new attachment is uploaded , the link changes to the latest file.

Is it possible to show all the file links in gallery control so I can view it.

Hi @venka91 ,

If you put a Button in the Gallery with the OnSelect

Launch(ThisItem.'Link to item')

it will open the document.

Also if you want to get a bit more sophisticated (this will take more space), put an Image Control with the same OnSelect, but with the Image

ThisItem.'{Thumbnail}'.Large

(you can also use small and medium), it will resolve a thumbnail of most file types.

Hi there, no i am still trying to get my required result. As you see in the picture, i want to show the files in gallery from the document library. Then when user clicks on it , it needs to launch.

i was just stuck with complecating this attachment control by JSON. But i need a simple approach if any to save the attachment alone with user records so when we go to the "Edit" section of the Canvas app, user will be able to delete or add more attachment.

Can you please suggest me anything if available.

I thought you were saving to a Library - you are referring to an Attachment Control in the form.

I do not use it myself, but the video form Shane Yong I referred to sets out sending Attachments to a Library. I use an Add Image control and this is covered in my blog.
